Yes it can happen.
Caffeine acts on the blood veins that irrigate the brain (among other things). Caffeine alters the rhythm at which blood is pump into the brain. Just check it out and see how many head ache pills have caffeine in them! Some remedies for severe head aches are 99%caffeine.
Your drinking coffee habits have change the way your blood veins irrigate your body, now without the caffeine a new (normal)rhythm has to be regain, but mine while, headaches are a probability.
Time will take care of your problem as you get use to the no caffeine in your system. If not, go gradually with the Coffee withdrawal.
If still with bad headaches, see your doctor.
Anyway, reducing your coffe intake is still healthy for you, and no coffe at all will be much better.
Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, it certainly can give you headaches. In fact it is well-documented that a lot of weekend headaches are caused by people not drinking as much coffee as they do at work.
Try cutting down more gradually to lessen the withdrawal symptoms, and make your coffee less strong over time, and you should be fine. I had this same problem for a while, but it went away after a couple of weeks. Good luck. Oh, and I still do drink coffee, and hardly ever have headaches any more.

Yes it does. It is the lack of caffine. I used to drink half a pot , about 6 cups, before 10 am by myself. This was after making a pot of coffee at 7:30 am. Stopped for about a month, had splitting headaches the size of texas. Small tip, if your going to stop drinking coffee, do it gradually.

While I can't say it is normal, it could be a withdrawl reaction. Coffee also eliminates extra water out of your system and the first place that you will notice that is the head.
You know the ads where they say "Take Aspirin with water for fast pain relief"? It is the water that does alot of the work. So drinking water will help your water levels get back into equilibrium and eliminate the headaches.

Yes it is possible to get headaches as a form of withdrawal. You could ease the process by having one weak cup of coffee per day until your body aclimatizes.

Yes... I did a detox diet about three years ago - you think forgoing coffee is bad.... try everything thats not brown or organic. The headaches should quit pretty soon as your body adapts. (As long as you don't substitute the coffee with coke, tea etc...) If they persist more than another two or three days, get yourself in front of a doctor, fast.

It is probably related to caffeine withdrawal. Is there a reason you stopped? If there is no reason, other than a desire to decrease your caffeine intake, try having one cup and see if the headache goes away or lessens. If it does, you have your answer.
If the headaches are associated with nausea, vomiting, visual disturbances, dizziness or any other symptom, get checked out fast!
Good luck!

Stopping coffee can cause headache but it should not cause the severe headaches you describe. See your doc to rule out any other cause of these headache as they can be a sign of something wrong.
