Wow - good question.
The trouble here is that there are MANY answers to why boys are shy about their feelings.
The other thing is to beware of the guy who doesn't appear to be shy about their feelings who seems to understand that girls like the emotional side of life. This may just be a well-practised routine.
Boys are shy about their feelings because:
o Often they are mixed up and inexperienced at knowing what they feel in the first place.
o They (especially the shy ones) have a lack of understanding of social interaction compared with girls of their age. They feel this acutely and are scared to make a mistake.
o They fear rejection - none of us like it, but there are periods in teenage and early adult years that rejection could still crush a person - particularly emotionally confused boys.
o They see a girl they like, but they don't know how to approach her - she's in a group of her friends and he doesn't know how to get her alone. If he does find her alone, what on earth does he say to her anyway? They go home and hide in a corner and the girl never even knows he existed ...

Hello - they are BOYS - even young men. What's wrong with being shy anyway? I was a shy girl and still managed to have boyfriends and a social life.....now happily married - being shy is not a big deal. If you aren't shy - then talk to the shy guy - you may even help him come out of his shell.

Ive been shy around women my whole life, maybe its just from lack of experience who really knows, im 42 now and still have trouble talking to women, fear of rejection could play a big part of it, or the thoughts of talking to a beautiful woman, And im not that bad a looking so i shouldnt have any thing to be afraid of, Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day.

Hey lets face it. Boys were not socialized to express there feeling freely because others would see them as being girlish. So as they grow older it becomes very difficult for them, and when they do try it is not really appreciated or they are laughted at. So they are shy because they are not sure if the are doing the right thing

Maybe they think it's sort of a wuss kinda thing if they show their feelings because it's in a boy's nature to act tough and all that sorta stuff so I guess they think that if they show their feelings they might feel like they're becoming softies.

Well here's the thing not all man are shy about their feelings, some just prefer to keep them to them selves, to keep from getting hurt, others, are just trying to be mocha, then theirs the few who don't care and would express their feelings openly you just have to ask.

They were taught from an early age to hide their emotions. But now we know that to show feelings is very normal and very good for Everyone.
