The National Guard should be armed and authorized to shoot drug smugglers, gun runners, non-Hispanic terrorists, enemy combatants and "coyotes." People just trying to get in illegally for work or quality of life should just be turned around and sent back.
I would be for bringing troops home from Afghanistan and Iraq ONLY if they would be used to secure the border and send illegals back.

Just try to get into Berlin when the wall was there. Hey! that what we need! A Berlin wall that runs around our borders. A double wall with a minefield in the middle. If we don't do something soon we will all be living in the United States of Mexico. I live in a town in Connecticut where we have lots of illegals, not to mention the legal ones. I can't walk through my local park without feeling like i'm the immigrant. Try oredering a meal at a fast food restaurant. Does anybody here still habla English???

Such would be a problem considering we have so much of the military already involved in conflicts in other parts of the world.
A better approach would be to vote out the politicians that are not representing the citizens of this country. It would mean getting out to help and get people into office that actually have a mind to see to the interests of not just the world as a whole, but the United States as a nation that has problems with internal security.
Sadly, I don't think many will do anything till they are personally effected in their own jobs. That is starting to take place now with the visas being given to people from other countries over our own graduates and degreed people.

it will take the people of america rising up against any politican that stands against the law and putting them out of office so that they will at last understand the life they lead depends upon the good will of the people if you want the luxury you have grown accustomed to then you will have to do what the people that elected you to do want done. The illegals are a problem in america but one that we are fully able to deal with and once the majtority of americans vote against anyone that favors allowing someone to break our laws and then have the nerve to reward them with letting them stay you will see them get serious about the law especially if their political lives depend upon it

it would take a lot actually. a very long and big fence or wall, like the wall of china, would have to be put up along the whole border and troops will have to constantly patrol it. go one step gurther and put the coast guard on watch from the pacific coast and the gulf of mexico. this would cause a high jump in taxes in order to pay it off and manual labor. funny thing is they hired illegal immigrants to build a small portion of the wall the last time.
