I know you don't want to hear this, but I think exercise is the answer to all of the above. regardless the reason for the depression exercise will help lift your mood, drop the weight and increase your energy levels.

I know from experience how hard it is to get up an move when all you want to do is sink deeper in the couch and cry, but it is the answer that will help the most.

What I did a lot was walk on the train tracks. It was outside, which my therapist also said would help. it was exercise, but it was fairly private. But if you do that make sure it's safe... it was where I was, but where I am now, not so much......... I miss it

Try an over the counter health supplement called SAM-E. It will help you with your mood, support liver health, and make your joints feel great. Also, fruits and veggies and juice are great-but are you getting enough protein. Maybe you are having too many carbs- even too many good carbs isn't a good thing. I have mood problems and have tried the SAM-E. It took a couple of weeks for me to notice a change. One day I was at home just doing some chores and I stopped and realized that I actually didn't feel depressed. I actually cried because I was happy. That hardly ever happened. Also, I have frequent bladder problems and urinary tract infections. I'm concerned about the bladder probs along with PMS probs. Have you been checked for endometriosis? Usually bladder and PMS problems occurring together might be a sign of this. Hope I helped some.

You have alot of depression going on. You will have to find out what if making you unhappy. It might be you really don't want to go to school for whatever it is you are trying for.
Unfortunately, exercise will bring back some of your energy, but you will have to try.
Doctor's are going to tell you the same thing and they over medicate patient's anyway. You might try different types of antidepression pills. You may not be on the right ones. But it comes down to you. You have to try, if you want to live. Otherwise, your heart will not want to work. If death doesn't scare you, try this out, if you are unlucky, you will have a heart attack or stroke and wind up in bed for the rest of your life, and it can do all kinds of things to you. I lived next to a woman that had a stroke and dragged the whole right side of her body. She was only 32 years old. There are other people out there, that is worse off than you. Get off the pitty wagon!

Psychological problems are not to be laughed at. Depression, along with low iron, will sap your energy level big time. I think that, if you are taking something for depression, it is not working. You are not lazy, but appears you are unmotivated and not happy with yourself. Have you thought about going to weight watchers or other eating programs? This may help you. Also, exercising is something everyone needs to be responsible for. It is not easy to start on an exercise program, but once you MAKE yourself exercise, you will definately see a difference. Good luck!

If you don't like exercise, just try walking. You will be able to walk farther and faster if you keep at it. And you will loose weight and feel less depressed. Also try using more light. The more light the better. If you can afford it, get a small SAD lamp to put in front of you when you study. SAD is a very common reason for feeling draggy. Are you getting enough protein? Hope you feel better soon.

Are you in the right major? If you love what you do, it won't be a chore, you'll enjoy doing it so that it doesn't feel like work.
Depending on how far you are into your degree, you should talk to your counselor about it.

I switched majors at the beginning of my senior year (!) and I've extremely happy about the change. I didn't love my old major, was only doing it to make my parents happy, but it bored me to death.

I care much more about my work, because it has a purpose to it now.
