If it was me, I wouldn't go with either one. They have great quality, and clarity, but they are expensive to repair. You are better off to go with the CRT televsions. I know they are more bulky, but in the long run you will say more money. If money is no object then I think I would go with the plasma. I think they have a truer color.
Hope this helps.

Geeez....here we go...LCD or Plasma
LCD is more reliable, less costly to operate and repair.
Plasma FITS only ONE PURPOSE....to hang on a wall.
Now there are smaller Hang on the Wall LCDs to take into consideration and I still recommend that technology over Plasma.
But, the manufacturers are working out the bugs in Plasma and I'm starting to see enough improvements to suggest it ONLY if you MUST HANG IT ON A WALL!!

Plasma lasts 60,000 hours, then goes to half brightness.
Both are good technologies. Just by nature LCD is more reliable.
That if you get a quality unit.
Sony,Toshiba,Mitsubishi,Pioneer Elite....

LCD.
plasma lasts 20,000 hours then dies. Thats about 3-4 years. $1399/3-4 years doesnt sound like a good investment.
