From the dawn of history, humans have been doing that. In farm societies they continue to do that. In urban societies people became 'civilized' and more squeamish, so they get the butcher (or the slaughterhouse) to do that for them.
Get the most squeamish person and leave him/her on a deserted island long enough and they will do that!
Think Again!

Quite possibly, yes. I consider meat to be a part of my culture, really.
Asking this of most modern (sub)urbanites is unrealistic though. You should probably clarify the question a bit.
Is this if ppl encountered doomsday and suddenly had unlimited land space and free time? Or is this under modern conditions, assuming everyone still has to work and do their normal chores?

i think of that each and each individual needs to make the excellence over what they locate ideal based on the framework of their very own ethics and morals. mutually as *I* probable nonetheless does no longer consume meat I "raised", i think that it eiliminates the main severe difficulty so a strategies as employing animals for meals:it reduces or removes their suffering. The indignities that animals are subjected to in production facility farming operations, feed plenty, and slaughterhouses is punctiliously unacceptable in case you think in any respect that animals are able to suffering. loose variety, on a farm, with a death that's finished as ethically and discomfort loose is attainable is related to the final situation which you may furnish, different than removing meat thoroughly from their meals plan. As a "city dweller", your threat to help such farming operations isn't negligible. there are a number of small, self sufficient farms that do basically what you're searching for for, and sell their meals quietly on the farm gate or via farmers markets. in lots of strategies, helping such farms can do as much as removing meat out of your meals plan, via fact as money is diverted far flung from production facility farming and into self sufficient farming, it outcomes exchange nonetheless a much wider public voice (money talk!) and finally, legislations. you may relish examining Peter Singer's "Animal Liberation" it is totally concept scary on animal suffering and the finished concept-approximately what treating animals as "equals" potential.

I think I still would eat meat if I had to do it all myself. They did it way back in the day, you either do it or starve.

No, but I probably wouldn't eat vegetables or vegetables either if I had to plant them, grow them, fertilize them, protect them from pests, etc.
