John 5:16-18
16And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

17But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

18Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

John 9:4
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

He had a lot to do, in a short time. Saving the world and all.

And by the way His end, was the most important work He came to do. If He did not die and rise again, He would not have been the Messiah, and He would not have taken away the sin of the world. Read Isaiah 53, it was written 700 years before the birth of Christ.

The Bible says that Jesus got up early so He could be alone (people were always wanting to be with Him). He needed down time too. But He came to earth to complete a mission - to die for our Salvation and pay the price for our sins - so He still would have completed His mission, regardless of how much time He took off. He came to die for us, but while He was here, He took time to teach, preach, and heal.

"This Jesus of Nazareth, without money and arms, conquered millions more than Alexander, Caesar and Napoleon. Without science and learning, He shed more light on things human and things Divine than all philosophers and scholars combined. Without the eloquence of schools, He spoke such Words of Life as were never spoken before or since, and produced effects which lie beyond the reach of orator or poet. Without writing a single line, He set more pens in motion, and furnished themes for more sermons, orations, discussions, learned volumes, works of art and songs of praise than the whole army of great men of ancient and modern times."--Phillip Schaff, noted historian.

He should have at least taken 1 day off instead of healing people on the Sabbath and stuff.
