Check your filters, pan under airhandler (maybe up in attic) duct work. Dust furniture, vaccuum more frequently. All these suggestions may decrease your symptoms. When your air comes on dust and molds are picked up in the air and distributed throughout your house. Duct work should be cleaned out once a year and filters changed once a month or sooner if your house get dusty often. If you live in an area next to a major street or highway you will have more dust. Check under your house to see if it is damp under there. This can be a major source for allergies mold spores grow and if the furnace/ AC components are under the house it will cause allergy symptoms when the system comes on.

Airconditioners need ongoing maintenance. If you are unsure about what to do, ring the company rep, and ask for their advice. Is it ducted or removable? This could make the decision to get a professional to do the initial clean. Everthing gets sucked into, through, and out again, and this is how germs can breed, and allergens form. If it is only you who suffers, are you the one who normally succumbs to sneezing etc.? there are probably irritants that you are more susceptible to.

Make sure that you clean that filter out as often as possible. Once a day isn't too much. While you are at it, make sure that there isn't moisture causing mold around the seals or anywhere, as that can really trigger allergies also. Good luck.

You could change your filters to the better "Filtrete" brand that claim to capture many allergens. However, the dust may already be built up throughout the ductwork in your system, requiring them to be cleaned out.

Perhaps look at a unit which has HEPA filters, they are a bit more effective than ordinary ones. Also run a de ioniser, that will help.
