Well in my travels, I've run into several people who claim the events in the Bible to be 100% true and historical. I'm not sure about any other religions, so I can't comment about them at all. But I have run into a few Christians who believe this.

The way I see it, most people will not appreciate the fact that mythology and folklore, which is usually some fantastic tale, is lumped together with a religion that is believed to be completely true.

Another thought is: If Yahoo did lump everything together in one large category I think it would be too large and vague.

They split it only because they are not the same in most minds.

Religion is based on books that people keep saying that they are from the divine (but all in all, they are all written by man).

Spirituality is based on the supernatural experiences that most call "Godly" or what-not.

Mythology is strong in religion, but not many look at it that way, as one may look at the norse and greek mythologies.

Folklore is in a similar situation as Mythology too.

All in all, whatever the division is, there is only one root that everything stems from. And that is Truth. The problem though is that so much junk is covering the beauty of these stories and texts that it is hard for one to see the "Truth" unless from guidance from beings who know (like the Divine, or the Angels, or other wonderful Beings).

Just thought I would share my perspective.

Best of wishes,
Jesse

They just didn't want to offend the Christians. As an atheist I consider all religion to be mythology and folklore.

Yes and for the hundredth time I wonder why all these people who call religion myth (and much worse) spend so much time at the religion part of Y/A. It's one of two things. They're searching for something, but can't admit it, or they're cowards who type a nasty post that they would not put on their office bulletin board.

It's a sop to the Christian fundamentalists probably who like to pretend they are pushing something that is more than mere superstition and mythology.

That's what I would think is behind it.
