Yes,
Insurance companies are constantly cutting coverage and raising premiums.
The cost of health care to retirees costs the Big3 auto manufacturers more than all wages and benefits to present employees. This is one of the leading reasons we are losing jobs to overseas manufacturers. Our foreign competition has state sponsored medical coverage.
Senior citizens who cannot afford their medications are doing without. And many die without their meds.

Nashnal Health care is estimated to cost American tax payers 339 billion dollars per year. Imagine the tax hike that would incur.
For all that tax money, we would buy surprisingly little health care.
The one common characteristic of all national health care systems is a shortage of services. For example, in Great Britain, a country with a population of only 55 million, more than 800,000 patients are waiting for surgery. In New Zealand, a country with a population of just 3 million, the surgery waiting list now exceeds 50,000. In Sweden the wait for heart x-rays is more than 11 months. Heart surgery can take an additional 8 months. In Canada the wait for hip replacement surgery is nearly 10 months; for a mammogram, 2.5 months; for a pap smear, 5 months. Surgeons in Canada report that, for heart patients, the danger of dying on the waiting list now exceeds the danger of dying on the operating table. According to Alice Baumgart, president of the Canadian Nurses Association, emergency rooms are so overcrowded that patients awaiting treatment frequently line the corridors.
This is just a few of the follies we would face. I see some people parising theses countiy's health care systems, yet they really don't know much about them and what really happens.
In the end, we lose money and health care we could have gotten in an emergency room. National health care is not for us....

Fred the Dog & American Girl have good points ....... but socialized healthcare would be better for OUR United States than the effort and money spent in Vietnam and Iraq. Even if l'il Georgy Bush could put on his best and favorite cowboy boots, spurs, shirt & hat to yell "lookie here folks, I won the war in Iraq" ... what the hell did he win? Cry over those tax dollars and lives spent, not helping your fellow Americans. The poor and ignorant will always be among every nation ...... but they can be taught to feed, catch, clean & cook the fish by those who proclaim to be invested in and own the ocean.

This is a verry difficult question to answer. Socialized medicine is a good idea, but would cost to much to impement, and probably not help everyone equaly. I believe the system would be badly abused by government and insurance agencies, so in reality, probably not!!

First of all, it wouldn't be "offered" to us citizens, it would be FORCED on us.
And no, it shouldn't be implemented in the US. UHC goes against all the basic founding principles of the US and it is inherently unfair to most people in the country.
The best way to solve the social problems in the US would be to deny ALL social services to illegal immigrants including, but not limited to: education, health care, social security, and welfare.

We already have universal healthcare. Healthcare is readily available.
Are you asking if we should have socialised medicine?
Why? The vast majority of Americans have health insurance of some sort. Why change the entire system just to cater to tthose few who don't?
