The fate of a person's soul after suicide not clearly explained.

Many people think it is the "Unforgivable Sin," but that's not written anywhere.

Suicide ought to be prevented, and suicidal people ought to seek help. But after the suicide, there isn't any reason to believe that God is punishing the victim.

Well there are obviously two sides...

One being that if a person kills themselves, they have not had a chance to repent, truly repent. Thats if you dont believe in once saved always saved. On top of that they did not rely upon God, and make Him there all in all. Christians are supposed to leave their lives in Gods hands, and let Him be in control, He would never have you kill yourself. Again thinking you know whats best for yourself, and a show of lack of faith, if not total unbelief in God. So unbelief, equates to unsaved, which equates to hell no matter how you die.

Now the other side... Sometimes people have lapses in judgement, even the biggest adherents to the Word of God falter from time to time, yet if they died due to such a falter would they miss heaven? Jesus said no one can take whom my Father has given me. God is merciful, God understands what we go through, (He did live here for 30+ years). Jesus died on the cross and certainly paid the penalty for all sin. So that is not a problem.

I think 99% of the time, if not 100%, people who committ suicide, gave up on God, long before they gave up on themselves and thus miss heaven. The question is whether or not they were in Jesus to start with. This is known only to God now, since we here can no longer ask them.

Some believe that suicide is an unforgivable sin because once accomplished one cannot request forgiveness.

However, as a Christian, I don't. Jesus paid the price for ALL sin, not just some of them. Once a person has accepted the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus, that person is saved. My viewpoint is supported by the following verses:

Eph 2:8-9
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
(No work can save you - even if you don't ask forgiveness once saved - the asking in and of itself is a work)

John 10:28
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
(no man can pluck the saved from Jesus' hands - including yourself).
