You are right -- a false religion would put a lot of prohibitions to try to control the people. Otherwise, they would eventually start to think about things and realize that the religion is false. So is your point that Islam is a false religion? Good for you, then.

Well, this is a good question, which i am not too sure how to answer. I would say it doesn't matter how many things are forbidden in a religion, as long as the faith is still standing strong, and not corrupted. What makes a religion being so true, it's the believers and their faith.
And beside, how do you know which religion is the true one or the false one?......
ADDED LATER, after clarifications.........
Well now that you clarified it a bit better... for example, Islam.... Pork and wine is forbidden, because it will cause harm to you, even tho you think wine is fun, it will harm you if you get drunk, or will harm someone else. God does not want you to perfrom things that will harm you, or another. Anyways, and things that are forbidden in Islam, and either written black on white in the Qu'ran or the Shari'a. Now if you need even more clarification, or if your point was not answer right again, let me know, i will put you on my watchlist.

Oh sure a false religion would prohibit people from doing things ... like leaving the religion, reading outside material that might influence them away from the religion, asking that all money be controlled by the religion rather than the individual.
The list goes on. The amount of forbidden things does not make or break a religion. Tis the truth of their gospel that matters.

Thats silly. During the period of the black plauge people went about torturing themselves in an effort to be pious and appease god. They died anyhow btw. Were they the true believers? The bible does say after all narrow is the way and few the people who make it. Considering the standard christian belief is one of the largest religions on earth it hardly fits that bill. Does that mean it is false?

For most of the people, Ladders of spiritual Journey are placed on a platform of religion.
On this platform body and mind require certain discipline. So that it become suitable to rise one of the ladder of spiritual Journey.
Its not always necessary, but is required in most cases.
In some religions only one ladder of spirituality exits. That is the religion which forbids many things and becomes unsuitable to most people.
All kind of people can rise spiritually provided suitable ladder is provided according to the nature of person.
In todays context there is more importance given to the platform (religion) and rarely emphasis is given on spiritual progress for which that platform is made.

That's why we have so many religions,. It's not easy following the laws and principles outlined in the Bible, many try to find a easy way and form or follow a religion that suits them. Jesus said..............“Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.....Matthew 7:13-14

So a religion is only true if it has restrictions against everything?
The restriction are greater or lesser by the definer of the religion they have no bearing on its validity.

All religions are false. The religions reflect the beliefs of the people who wrote the religious texts, nothing more.

not neccessarily. and whoever said religion is unconstitutional, had better get their facts straight. once you go to a church/religious place, you either choose to reject or accept the principles and views taught there.

YHVH allows all things permittable, then utlines what can't be done, and others copy him. The main focus is on what needs to be done, not what can't be done.
