I am very sorry to hear of your loss, and my prayers are with you.

There are different kinds of genetic abnormalities that can affect chromosome 8.

There are some syndromes associated with chromosome 8 that cause birth defects involving the skull, face and bones. These can be caused by mutations in the genetic code, or the absence of certain genes.

Other birth defects can be caused by the baby getting an extra copy of the chromosome.

You need to consult a genetic counselor, who should be able to tell you more precisely what the problem was with this baby, and give you advice regarding future pregnancies.

Sometimes genetic problems are caused by genes you and/or your spouse carry, and sometimes the mutations happen unexpectedly with an individual pregnancy.

Good luck to you, and God bless your family.

I am very sorry for your loss.
When an egg meets sperm, each have 23 chromosomes (healthily)
If there is anything 'wrong' with either egg or sperm chromosomes then chromosomal defects can occur, if there is deletion, addition or rearrangement of genetic material. For example Downs Syndrome is where there are 3 of number 21 chromosome instead of 2
If there is part of chromosome 8 deleted, some of the genetic material required to make a 'heathly' human is missing and so the baby didn't survive.
I am sure you have more practical questions, which a doctor should be able to help you with.

i'm so very quite sorry. I had an similar difficulty very last 3 hundred and sixty 5 days in which i realized round 18+weeks (when I went for a sono) that my infant had no heartbeat. It grow to be very confusing to settle for because I had a sono weeks in the previous exhibiting a healthy fetus. My Dr. suggested the gestational age of the child grow to be 16 weeks. So it had died in utero 2 weeks in the previous I knew. Upon all kinds of attempt, including exam of the child, my reproductive organs, etc... He suggested from time to time this stuff basically take position. That grow to be even harder to settle for because I had 3 uneventful healthy pregnancies in the previous that ended in 3 healthy children. i don't understand why this stuff basically take position. And there hasn't been an afternoon considering then that i don't think of about the child I lost. at the starting up people tried to console me through declaring such issues as it grow to be meant to be. i understand they were attempting to help besides the undeniable fact that it did not help a lot. the reality is it is going to take time, perhaps dissimilar it and believe in God (or regardless of higher potential you've faith in) that there is a reason behind each and everything. i'm hoping i have helped in some small way. God Bless.

Sorry about this, it must so hard for you both.

As for the chromosome abnormality I would ask the doctor what this means as that is the best person to explain it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Talk to your doctor. They may be able to tell you exactly what it is and if it is treatable.

Remember though if it is not treatable, there a millions of babies all around the world without families who need the love of parents.
