forgive those who sin against him, whether they repent or not? If He doesn't then his mercy is finite.

Great question. Yes, we should forgive them even if they don't repent for 2 reasons.
1) for ourselves so we don't carry around any bitterness in us
2) because sometimes people don't realize they have sinned against you and sometimes we sin against others and don't know we have either.
Remember Jesus said, "If you don't forgive your brother his tresspasses, neither will your heavenly Father forgive you."

And to answer your last question. No, even if you forgive a person who sinned and didn't repent, doesn't mean that God will forgive him. There is a way to be forgiven. And if you willfully sin and don't choose to repent and receive Jesus as your Savior then you are choosing not to be forgiven. It's not that God's mercy becomes finite, it's that He would be sinning because He also has to be fair and just to us who are doing things the right way.

God forgives those who sin against him whether they repent or not. But the person who does not repent is unable to RECEIVE that mercy. If I keep on giving you endless amount of money, but if your pockets are full of holes, would you accuse me of lack of generosity?

Forgiveness is interesting. It seems to have three levels. Firstly, I do not wish evil to come upon the one who harmed me. That is the first level. On that level yes. The second is to wish to be friends with the person. If someone has harmed me and not repented and asked forgiveness, I would be a fool to want him (or her) for a friend. (On this level, No) The Third only applies to YHVH. And that level is to take our sins, and to give us righteousness for them. (See to "give for") He can only do that when one repents and asks Him for that exchange.

No we are not to but we do. No he does not. You must understand the part right at the very first that says the whole of the world and man are condemned to destruction. The infinite mercy is that for the sake of a few he allows the whole to continue.

I would like to expand it to true God believer. God forgives to unrepentant, to unbelievers and to sinners. Asking forgiveness is simply an acknowledgment of sin and the desire to change.

God does seem a nasty piece of work, bearing grudges down through the centuries, condemning not only children who have done nothing but their children and so on, it would be pathological if observed in a mere mortal.
