My TV flickers blue and yellow when the scene (on screen) is dark. Does that mean one of the tubes has died? The picture is fine when it is showing footage of a bright scene.

I have never read so many crap answers by people who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Answers have been given purely to up their points score. The vague description of the fault is not really enough to be able to formulate an accurate answer, however it may be worthwhile checking your SCART cable first, wiggle it about to see if the PQ improves and if so, substitute with a known good one. There will also be a hidden service menu that can be accessed by a TV engineer. This can be adjusted to change all manner of settings on your TV including colour, sound, & picture settings.

Sounds like shorting inside the picture tube guns. A shop may be able to 'zap' the gun... works about 75% of the time (a machine that reverses normal current direction in an attempt to evaporate the bits of metal causing the shorts).

CRTs have 3 "electron guns" of their neck. those are responsible for generating the purple, Blue and eco-friendly aspects of the picture. If one of those, or the circuits which pressure them fails then you receives a distorted colour image yet in the different case it's going to look quite ok. on your case you look to have an additional desirable symptom (the sparkle) that shows there might want to be an determination reason. there is no make sure that this can artwork yet attempt it besides in the previous you spash out on a sparkling television tube. Disconnect the set from the mains (pull the plug, do not only change off). go away it for quarter-hour or with the objective to allow residual fee to vanish. examine to work out that the plug on the decrease back of the tube is firmly connected and that the wires are securely appropriate. follow the wires right down to the set's circuit board and do an identical connectivity examine. Plug it decrease back in and attempt it. You not in any respect recognize, your might want to be fortunate. It worked for me.

It sounds very much like a connection problem and I would agree the chap who suggests checking your scart leads. Make sure they are tight, or change them. Also, does the "fault" happen when you are watching your terrestrial channels (BBC1 BC2 ITV and CH4) ? If not, then ur TV is fine

Do you have a scart box with a RGB button? Could that be faulty? If not, the good news is TV's a fairly cheap these days!
