Where do you get the idea that Catholics pray ONLY to saints and NOT to God? Catholics do not pray to saints as an intermediary to God. Catholics pray to saints in order to ask them to pray FOR US and WITH US as we pray to God.
Do you ever ask friends and family in this life to pray for you? Are THEY an intermediary to God? Catholics consider those in Heaven to be among our friends and family that we can count on to pray for us and with us as we pray to God. Catholics pray to the saints in Heaven AND (not insteafd of) God.

Catholics don't really pray to saints, they are praying to God. Saints are just mediators between God and the catholics. God is not busy, in fact he can hear us all even if we all pray at the same time because God is just there and ready to listen. Catholics are just giving respect and adoration to saints.

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.
The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.
Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints, you, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.
As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends living here on earth to pray for you. Or, you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother living in heaven to pray for you.
Prayer to saints in heaven is simple communication, not worship.

Many cults do this same thing. However, sane Christians try not to worry about past sinners. Since Jesus is perfect and God is all knowing; that is a good place to direct prayers.

They used to pray to the moon, and when the moon wouldn't do anything for them, they invented another god.
