it seems from some of the answers that
'they' are 'authorized' (by whom?) to concoct their 'version' of their 'interpretation' of their choice of content which explains how 'we/you' should behave and think

The word of YHVH is in Hebrew. I do not believe Torah is copyrighted. People spend great sums working on a translation. The way that governments have set it up so they can earn their money back is the copyright.

Do you know the meaning of copyright? Yes the bible is called the word of God but not all the words written therein are the words of God, some are answers of Satan to God. The meaning of copyright is a true copy or right copy of the bible by the New York Bible Society and they are the authorized translator of the said bible from other language to the English version. is it clear. I hope you understood it very well

It's a translation of the word of God from the original languages (Ancient Greek and Hebrew I think) and every translation differs, some slightly, some quite hugely. There are people today who still go back to the sources to try to translate it into English using new knowledge about the times in which it was written and about the use of the languages it was written in. These people are, quite rightly, not happy just to give their life's work away.

It's a translation of certain selected manuscripts and is thus a work of English composition. You want the clear interpretation? Learn Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew and have a go, mate. It is, in fact, telling that they copyright it.

If you are not reading the Hebrew or the Greek, original languages,
then you are reading a translation of the Word of God
and they have the intellectual rights to their translation
as it is their interpretation

Because they spent the time and money translating a large work from three rather archaic languages and would like to keap their rights to their own intellectual property and possibly recoup some of the costs of translation and publication.

Because they are the only ones who have God's fax number and they are not going to miss out on a nice juicy profit (in true Christian tradition).

ppl now adays r selfish man...and perhaps cos the pay money to the editor and do not want their money and effort to be wasted...but i strongly think the Gospel shld not be copyrighted...and even if it is so only God can dotat...we have no right to do that...and NIV is much better,to say.
