God is on noone's side and people who engage in this level of argument are, indeed, misguided. Even if they ascribe to a faith, to claim that God endorses their personal beliefs is, in my mind, foolhardy. And this is coming from a Muslim.

Yes, your definition is correct. If we were created in God's image, our quest for information and experimentation, must mimic God's. Do we experiment about things we know or things we don't know. The human experience could be an experiment that doesn't contain, love, peace, light, truth, mercy, greatness or compassion.

Exactly, people fighting over God do not have any inkling what God is.
Glimpse of God could be experienced in love, in light, in truth, in compassion.
Its Like glimpse of Sun could be experienced in rays of its light. However Sun is not rays of light, its much more than that.

The Jewish religion rarely saw these attributes of God reading much of the Old Testament you get the theme of a wrathful and angry God,It was Jesus Who showed the real face of God to the world and if we truly understood this then how could we be bitter or elitist in our faith towards others?
