Anything that is 30mph over the advertised speed limit is an instant ban - 60mph in a 30 mph zone; 100mph in a 70mph zone etc.
Have just been banned from driving in Australia for 6 months, after being on holiday there for 3 weeks. Was doing 165KPH in a 110kph limit - an instant ban there is 45kph over the speed limit.

That will get you a court summons. Usually anything over about 94mph means a summons. Usually an instant ban is twice the speed limit.
It possible you might get a ban although I'd say a hefty fine and at least 6 points. It'll depend on the hearing.

If you are an off duty police officer doing 140mph along a stretch of motorway up North 'testing' your 'unmarked' car - you'll get a pat on the back from the magistrate and walk free from court with a clean licence

Not 100% sure, but in mainland UK it going to either double the speed limit, or 100mph, whichever you reach first. Unless you're an off duty policeman just "testing" how quick your car goes.

well you have had it. Why were you doing that speed?
There's no such thing as a 70 mph zone- that is the NATIONAL speed limit.
