I've been working as a Nanny with a family for over 5 years now, and I am yet to meet another nanny. I'm writing this as I am interested in what other Nannies do, in this job you seldom get any feedback and I sometimes wonder if I am a good nanny, or could I be better. How much do nannies usually get paid? What ages are your charges? Whats your favourite activities to do? I am interested in everything lol.
I look after 5 children from 9yrs to 5 months - in school holidays its tough to find activities to suit all the children at the same time! School time is easy, I only have a 2 yr old and the baby - we go to carer/toddler groups which have a range of toys and activities, and messy play (great for me, cos we get to have fun and I dont have to clean up!) We enjoy afternoons out at the park, feeding ducks, softplay centres, farms all the usual.I get paid £1000 a month after tax, which seems good to me, and I dont do housework! I'm loving this job so far,I hope I get another 5 yrs here!!

I was a nanny about 10 years ago in the US. I worked every day from 8 am to 6 pm. 10 hour a day. I had one little girl, and I did no housework. I made 250$ a week. I took her lots of places, their house was on a beach. When I worked weekends they paid me more. (they were a very rich family though so this may not be normal)

I am a nanny. I would bet that you have met other nannies and just didn't know that they were a nanny. What a nanny gets paid is varied greatly depending on your education, experience and mostly where you live. Typically, you'll know if you're not doing a good enough job - you'll go through families quickly. If you have been with the same family for 5 years, I'd imagine that they think that you're doing a fantastic job. I nanny for a 2 and a 3 year old (girl, boy). Our favorite things to do are to go out and play with friends. We also love to do crafts, play games, and play in general. I think that it sounds like you have a great situation where you are. If you are concerned though, ask if there's anything more that your employers think that you should be doing.

I was a nanny for 11 years in total and was with one family for 6 years. Its not a job but a whole way of life especially if you 'live-in' which I did for the most part.
I worked in a very well to do part of north London therefore there were plenty of nannies around but I can imagine it might be quite a lonely existance for those who live in more rural areas. My own personal experience is that some mothers think it is beneath them to even spek to the nannies up at the schools so it can be hard.
Its not a job I would recommend to everyone as living in someone elses house can be quite difficult. My job was wonderful until the mother started having personal problems then it was hell and I couldnt get away at night by going home. The two girls in the family were bridesmaids at my wedding and we are still in touch so it cant have been all bad!

I am not a nanny, I am a childminder &what you are doing sounds good. You may want to contact the local childminding association to see if you can go along to their weekly meetings as they will have advice on how to look after kids.

Are all the 5 kids siblings? I have 5 myself (+ the ones I look after). It's not easy finding something suitable for all of them but art & craft can be good 'coz the big ones can help the little ones.

I watch the two each now and then.. notwithstanding, i attempted to observe between the Nanny 911 final evening and it did no longer look like the Nanny Yvonne grew to become into doing plenty good. the place have been the guidelines for what to do whilst the toddler misbehaves? All she did grew to become into say provide up the yelling, yet no longer what to do somewhat. i did no longer even watch all of it. i like SuperNanny, nevertheless. the techniques are constantly good and intensely efficient. I even have it set to checklist a week so i do no longer omit it.

No , I do not believe it is right for anyone to pay someone else to tend to the children that is the responsibility of the parents , to spend time ,and occupy the children.. but hey if you good people are fortunate enough to find parents to preoccupied with their own lives to worry their own children ,and who have no business breeding , then go for it , take those fools money ,take them for all you can , they deserve it ......
