The new day do not begins at midnight. It ends at midnight (2400hrs). A second after midnight (00.00.01) is when the new day starts. So midday comes before midnight because 1200hrs comes before 2400hrs.

You could say that Day is when the sun is above the horizon and night is when its below, therefore midnight doesn't happen during the day so the answer must be midday!!

Technically speaking, the new day does not start until 12:01am (00:01) so if you want to be dead on, then it would be midday, but for general purposes, the answer would be midnight.

Neither. A new day starts when you wake up and acknowledge that you are indeed alive for yet another day. It is also dependent on where in the world you are.
Time is man-made so maybe day justs starts when the flicker of sun appears on the horizon. Days and nights were in existence well before clocks!

The best thing to do is to look at a 24-hour clock. When it goes back to 00:00, you'll know when the new day begins.
