My daughter and husband have it! We were going to get the flu shots but then they got sick. Yesterday the doctor confirmed that is what it is and my son and I both got the shot so we wouldn't get it that bad if we catch it. The doctor have a medicine and they take that but are there any other homemade remedies? All in all I really need an answer!

Children's Herbal Antibiotic Formula

2 cups water
½ teaspoon echinacea root
½ teaspoon licorice root and
½ teaspoon barberry bark (or Oregon grape root)

Place water and herbs in a saucepan. Simmer for 2 minutes, then remove from heat and steep for about 20 minutes. Strain out herbs. For a 50-pound child, give 1 cup of tea or half a dropperful (30 drops) of tincture daily. To improve the flavor, the tea can be mixed with an equal amount of juice. In fact, homemade apple and grape juice, unlike bottled juices, contain strong antiviral agents that fight colds and flu.

Rest, rest, rest. That is the best thing for the flu, and drink lots of fluids. I don't know of anything that can get rid of it, just that if you try to do too much, you can get other infections on top of the flu, which lead to worse things, like pneumonia.

Echinacea is a good herb for when you are sick. It comes in tea and other forms.

Have enough rest; drink plenty of water; take medicines that relieve symptoms; avoid alcohol and tobacco; avoid aspirin/acetylsalicylic acid (especially childrens and teens); avoid antibiotics (unless necessary for another illness)

Take tylenol for the fever. U can take some musinex and stuff but u really just have to wait for it to take its course and get out of the system. Make sure to drink lots of fluids and get lots of sleep.

Eat a hot curry... it will kill the germs and promote mucus production (a good thing), maybe help you sweat it out as well.
