The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps is a group headed by Chris Simcox dedicated to preventing illegal crossings of the U.S. border. Believing that the government is not sufficiently concerned with securing the U.S. border, they have elected to take the job upon themselves. Several state chapters have been organized, with the intention to provide law enforcement agencies with evidence of immigration law violations

Simcox assures that the group will only be reporting incidents to law enforcement, not directly confronting immigrants. The volunteers view themselves as calling attention to illegal immigration in the U.S. There is a standard operating procedure (SOP) that must be followed by Minutemen volunteers. Rules include not speaking to, approaching, gesturing towards or having physical contact in any way with any suspected border crossers they may see.

In Arizona, where the Minute Men were founded, it is legal to carry a weapon, as long as it is not concealed. Its not unusual to see people with a weapon on their person. Our deserts are a vast, desolate and sometimes hostile place. That being said, I personally know that the MM are not now, nor have they ever been vigilantes. They are a group of dedicated people of all colors and races that are helping the Border Patrol. They do this by spotting illegal aliens crossing our border.And calling the BP with the illegal aliens position. They do not have any kind of verbal or physical confrontations with the illegal aliens.
To join the MM you must pass a criminal background check and an emotional stability evaluation. You cant just show up and expect to be allowed to become a Minute Man.
The MM are made up of all types of people from all walks of life.Doctors,
lawyers,teachers,
clergymen,construction
workers,ranchers,white and
blue collar workers
.And business owners like
my husband and I ,who have
been members for about 8 months now.
The Minute Men do not allow any known racists to become members.Its not about race as there are many Hispanics ,blacks,Asian ,Indian and
others that are members.
They are not vigilantes they are Americans helping to do the job that our do-nothing government wont do.
What the Border Patrol says to the press and what they say to the MM are two different things.The agents in the field appreciate what the MM do.
Dont believe the lies and propaganda that the pro illegal supporters groups tell you.
They are not a racist group like La Raza Unida or the Brown berets .

Some ppl are really upset now because of everything happening illegally down along the border is being brought to light by this group. God bless em. vegaswoman, both of your links are from 2005, and if you go to the Minuteman website you will see that they require $50 for a background check on members. This is specifically to see if they are associated with hate groups. This is a heck of a lot more screening than many (for example 11 to 20 million illegal immigrants) get in our country.

No, they are heros'. The fiasco of criminally prosecuting the Border Control guards and sentencing them to prison and not prosecuting the illegals bringing in tons of drugs into the U.S. and then allowing them to commit this crime again followed by them sueing the U.S. government is disquesting.

I guess so. I think they are 100% correct in their cause. I mean it all really falls back onto the government to do it, and this group is trying to push the government to do something about it. They took the inititative to do something that no one else wanted to do.
