I don't think so. President Bush should apologize for calling them vigilantes.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps is a group headed by Chris Simcox dedicated to preventing illegal crossings of the U.S. border. Believing that the government is not sufficiently concerned with securing the U.S. border, they have elected to take the job upon themselves. Several state chapters have been organized, with the intention to provide law enforcement agencies with evidence of immigration law violations

Simcox assures that the group will only be reporting incidents to law enforcement, not directly confronting immigrants. The volunteers view themselves as calling attention to illegal immigration in the U.S. There is a standard operating procedure (SOP) that must be followed by Minutemen volunteers. Rules include not speaking to, approaching, gesturing towards or having physical contact in any way with any suspected border crossers they may see.

In Arizona, where the Minute Men were founded, it is legal to carry a weapon, as long as it is not concealed. Its not unusual to see people with a weapon on their person. Our deserts are a vast, desolate and sometimes hostile place. That being said, I personally know that the MM are not now, nor have they ever been vigilantes. They are a group of dedicated people of all colors and races that are helping the Border Patrol. They do this by spotting illegal aliens crossing our border. And calling the BP with the illegal aliens position. They do not have any kind of verbal or physical confrontations with the illegal aliens.
To join the MM you must pass a criminal background check and an emotional stability evaluation. You cant just show up and expect to be allowed to become a Minute Man.
The MM are made up of all types of people from all walks of life.Doctors,
lawyers,teachers,
clergymen,construction
workers,ranchers,white and
blue collar workers
.And business owners like
my husband and I ,who have
been members for about 8 months now.
The Minute Men do not allow any known racists to become members. Its not about race as there are many Hispanics ,blacks,Asian ,Indian and
others that are members.
They are not vigilantes they are Americans helping to do the job that our do-nothing government wont do.
What the Border Patrol says to the press and what they say to the MM are two different things. The agents in the field appreciate what the MM do.
Dont believe the lies and propaganda that the pro illegal supporters groups tell you.
They are not a racist group like La Raza Unida or the Brown berets .

You can be assured that the minutemen are not vigilantes nor are they a racist hate group. Some ppl are really upset now because of everything happening illegally down along the border is being brought to light by this group. God bless em. Wait till the country really begins to see the full problem with illegal in every state. Illinois right now is getting ready to sell off its Lottery to a private firm because it is needing desperately required revenue to keep its government operations and programs functioning. Wonder why? One only has to look to see the truth. And they're not the only ones considering doing this now.

"Minutemen American protection" is a militant nativist splinter crew depending in the overdue 2000s by technique of Forde after she replaced into expelled from the Minutemen Civil protection Corps. No, it received't and could no longer have any result on the different non-criminal crew. Why ought to it? This human being is a assassin and ought to easily accept the shortcoming of lifestyles penalty. It does no longer count if she calls her crew "Minutemen American protection" or "Treehuggers nameless". *

Well, yeah, that is what the word means.

However, we have an American tradition of vigilantes. At some points in our history, they were the only 'law' in an area for decades.

The problem with vigilantes is that people can get hurt, if the vigilante is not careful, or even just if the vigilante becomes a target, as the Minutemen certainly have become.

However, since the Minutemen have gone so long without any significant incidents to hold against them as a group, and since they are doing the job our government will not do, I support them.

"Vigilante" is not in itself a dirty word.

vegaswoman, both of your links are from 2005, and if you go to the Minuteman website you will see that they require $50 for a background check on members. This is specifically to see if they are associated with hate groups. This is a heck of a lot more screening than many (for example 11 to 20 million illegal immigrants) get in our country.

Yes. And they are traitors to go against the laws of this land. The law of the jungle is for monkies. To say that vigilantism is maybe not a bad thing because it's always been around is as asinine as saying that pedophilia or cannibalism or human sacrifice or slavery maybe aren't bad things because those savageries have always been around, too. First, the morons fail to meet the challenges of shaping decent communities. They do everything in their power to segregate segments of people living in their own communities, people they invited and hired to come work and live there in order to avoid paying Americans a legal and decent wage. Then, these morons fall hook, line and sinker for "States' Rights", for reducing the strength of the federal government and this union. THEN, when their communities flounder from generations of their stupidity and segregation and vulgar discrimination of these guest workers, they get all hysterical and whiney that the federal government doesn't come in and clean up their messes for them. LOL . Vigilantism is a high crime against the United States of America and all decent citizens here. That's what these morons are saying, that they no longer intend to be a part of our laws and our nation. They are declaring that they are our enemy. That makes them terrorists. Minutemen are the"illegals".

No, they are heros'. The fiasco of criminally prosecuting the Border Control guards and sentencing them to prison and not prosecuting the illegals bringing in tons of drugs into the U.S. and then allowing them to commit this crime again followed by them sueing the U.S. government is disquesting.

Pres. Bush should have pardoned these 'heros' immediately. I am so very disappointed in him and all the other Representatives who have not made a major issue of this crime against U.S. citizens.

We are being taxed and sold out by our own government.

The Minutemen is safer than the border patrol who recently are getting arrested left and right. They do need someone to fill the gap.

We need more groups like the min men, of course george is scared of these groups. he made laws just to contain the american public. and his worse fear is people waking up to reality one day and getting pissed off enough to do something about it. (which should be now by the way) he is scared of these groups because, these groups are going to be the ones to organize first. so he has to demonize them. google NAU find out the truth.

call your congressmen and tell him to

I guess so. I think they are 100% correct in their cause. I mean it all really falls back onto the government to do it, and this group is trying to push the government to do something about it. They took the inititative to do something that no one else wanted to do.
