the short answer is yes. having your dog neutered is an important part of responsible dog ownership. your dog will be healthier, more contented, will live longer and will behave better without his sexual urges confusing the picture. an UN-neutered dog is more likely to stray. if he can smell a female in heat- she doesn't have to be next door, she might be a mile away. neutered dogs tend to live an average of two to three years longer. neutering your dog while he is young will prevent testicular cancer, prostate disease and hernias.

First, do you walk him? Staffies should have a good hour's walk offleash every day - this may be why he's so hyperactive. They are easy enough to train - email me for help on the visitor thing and any other problems you have, I've trained five staffies. Neutering will calm him down - to some extent. It won't be a situation where he comes home and suddenly he's totally calm and chilled out all the time.

It seems to be a common opinion among vets that neutering a dog will quieten it down, (mind you I think it would quieten anyone down). However , I had a Border Collie and it didn't seem to quieten him down a lot. I found he became more affectionate to the family though. Labs do take a good couple of years to mature so they are just active puppies for that time, unless neutered.

Well, it really depend on the age of the dog. At nine months I would say not much. Over a long period of time it will calm some but mostly due to age.

Not necessarily no, it will help lessen any dominant behaviour but doesn't always calm a dog down, Labs don't really calm down until they are about 2 years old! and not always then, they need firm training and plenty to keep them occupied! 9 months old is very young to be expecting a puppy to be calm!

Maturity will calm him down. Neutering is not a substitute for good training. A 9 month old puppy is not supposed to be calm - he's a puppy!

Labradors are renowned for having a lot of energy! They also never grow out of it.
Generally neutering any dog will calm them down and also reduce the risk of testicular cancer

Yes but at 9 months being boisterous is not unusual so maybe wait a bit longer.

Yes,having him neutered does calm him down. He does not have the impulse to breed any more.
