I live on a "No Motor Vehicles Except For Access" road which is used as a "rat run". The County Council say they can't close the road off as the road is not wide enough for a turning circle/area.

I didn't know that there was a minimum dimension. There are plenty of roads that just stop and maintain the same width throughout their length.

I suggest that you re-challenge the official who gave you that information and ask him to quote you chapter and verse from the Act or Bye-Law which he seems to think applies. I bet he can't!

You'll probaly only get well-meaning guesses on this forum.

There isn't a minimum, but the council has recognised that vehicles wouldn't be able to turn around without damaging other peoples cars and property when they discover that the road had been closed off.

I know for a london type black cab it has to be 24 feet so that could be the answer.
