In terms of "disability" a residential home refers to a home were an individual(s) resides that requires up to and including 24 hour care. Residential homes are staffed by workers who have completed education within the field or various fields of support required to provide care to those living in residential settings.

People live separately but share common areas in a residential home. And there is help with job coaching, (if they are able to work), and daily activities. Some are taught how to cook, care for themselves, etc..

Residential home is a place where people live.

Group homes are where groups of people live cooperatively.

Non-residential buildings are places of business or equipment storage or something else.
