Sure, you always have the right to ask...however, they have the same right to tell you it's none of your business. If you weren't there and had no connection to either them or their mates at the time, you have no right to pass judgement on how things might have transpired or what's valid and what's not. You just have to take your chances with the person you have in front of you and hope for the best. Each relationship is different and needs to be approached that way or the situation's doomed to failure, much like your past ones were!

You have every right in the world to know about your partner's past history.....example: what if the person has a mental illness and spent many years days or even months away for it...i would want to know i don't feel like being cut up by a chain saw!!!

if you plan to have sex with them, you sure do. But, they don't have to respond, nor if they respond do they have to tell you the truth. Be prepared anyway, and, check them out in other ways.
