Section 1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 prohibits four types of dog:
the Pit Bull Terrier
the Japanese tosa
the Dogo Argentino
the Fila Brasileiro
Buy him a poodle !
Edit : in reply to your edit
Your not getting this are you ?, it doesnt matter why you want the dog , its illegal , buying it means you are breaking the law , giving it to your boyfriend means he is breaking the law.
Live up to your name and show a bit of class, dont knowingly buy a dangerous and illegal dog.

I would not pay that for her. With the 'Devil Red Nose' thing she is definitely not a pure Pitt. Buying it from a mate of mate, not a good idea, When you buy puppies you have to see the parents, that's why you go to a breeder. It is impossible to determine the temperament of a pup otherwise. Remember Pitts are illegal in the UK, she will be taken away and destroyed if you get caught. Ask the question why at six months old is she being sold on?
Are you sure she is not a Cross Pitt they are not illegal.
I had a staffie cross pit and had no problems with the law.
Whatever you decide, I'm sure you are a responsible owner, do not encourage this dog to be aggressive or fight, i know it may sound obvious but people still do it.
If the dog has a caring and loving home she should grow up to be a caring and loving dog. I say should because you have not had her from 7 weeks old and you may not know what she has been subjected to in the first six months of her life.

Pit bulls are illegal in the UK and are currently the subject of much police attention following the killing of yet another child by an inappropriately trained dog. Get him an English Bull Terrier. They are wonderful companions and still as tough as they come without all the aggression. In any case, a grand is a ridiculous price for what is essentially a mongrel.

Pit Bulls are illegal in the UK if you buy this dog you will end up having to have it destroyed!
Where have you been this past couple of months?
I have just read your edit, it does not matter what you are or are not buying her for, they are still illegal in the UK, she will be put to sleep!
someone will see her and report you, you could get into a lot of trouble, a large fine at the least, prison at the worst, buy a different breed!
For the benefit for the person who says Pit Bull crosses aren't illegal, of course they are.....because Pit Bulls are illegal therefore anything crossed with one is also illegal!!

In the UK it has been illegal to own a Pit bull since the introduction of the Dangerous Dogs Act in 1991. The Pit bull is the FIRST dog specifically identified in the act and this was because of the large number of attacks on humans around that time. Many of the attacks were carried out by "the family pet" on small children (often members of that family). I'm sure I don't need to describe the damage a pit bull can do to a small child.
I realise you may not live in the UK and may not be bound by this law. In the BBC news item below, the child died. Please be careful with this dog around children.

I don't know the cost of any breeds of dogs. I also am not going to get into the Pit debate. What I would like to suggest to you is not purchasing a dog as a gift unless your boyfriend knows about it and is completely involved in the process.
The reason I mention this is I volunteer for a rescue organization and one of the top reasons people surrender their dogs is that they were purchased as gifts or a husband bought a dog for the kids without consulting the wife or vice versa.
A dog is a lifetime committment for anyone. Whoever is going to own the dog needs to determine the breed of dog he or she wants and then which dog to get based on his or her lifestyle. Dogs vary so much in temperment and energy level even within a breed! A dog is so hard to pick out and get right.
It's a lovely gesture and one that will bring any person years of joy. But make sure that person really wants a dog and understands the costs involved. If you want to surprise him, wrap up a collar, leash and bowl in a box and let him unwrap it. See how he handles that! If he gets excited, then you know you can take the next step and start that search for the perfect dog together!
Also - from what I'm reading it sounds like there may be laws restricting breeds in your area. Call your local police station and find out so you won't get into trouble later.
Thanks for considering this opinion and good luck in your search.

They are illegal in the UK.
Buy a Staffordshire bull terrier instead as they are legal and a similar breed.
Avoid any advertised as American Staffies or staffie/American staffie cross as these are pit bulls or pit bull staffie cross's bred by idiot chav's.
Your best to buy from a breeder not 1 from a friend of a friend.

i wouldnt recomend getting a pit bull since you live where they are illegal. unless you live almost in the middle of nowhere and he/she could run around without being seen by others who would report it nad then have him/her put down. and also the color of the nose is the last thing you should worry about or the coat color. you should first worry about how they look structurly, and who their maother and father were for health reasons. there are health conditions in dogs that are passed down through generation to generation. and if the breeder is saying its a devil red nose pit for what kind of pit he is then he doesnt exactlly know what he's talking about, thats not even a breed of pit bull!

As most ppl have been trying to say to you:
Pit Bulls or Pit Bull types are illegal in the UK.
With all the recent publicity, someone would see your dog, report it, it would be taken away & destroyed.
Money down the drain. . . . . . .
Is that simple enough?

You can't buy a Pit Bull in the UK, they are illegal (unfortunatly)
What you will end up with is an overpriced, badly bred cross breed, that is prone to health problems and could end up being seized & PTS.
Why not choose a different breed that is kennel club recognised.
