Skin side up or turn it over if is a whole fish (a tiddler called a Codling).
Cod is not very good, and it is only thought to have lots of flavour because the American Pollock and lots of the foreign white fish has even less.
So in principle it can be accompanied with things with strong flavours like parsley sauce (a bit too overpowering), Mediterranean veggies like courgettes (I have these with the superior Haddock), so mashed spud with chives or cheese is OK, so are plain ole chips.

Cube some potatoes, place in a roasting tin and drizzle with olive oil, salt & pepper and stick in a hot oven for about ten minutes, with whole cloves of garlic.
Add some cherry tomatoes and rosemary and cook for a further 10 minutes.
Lay the cod on top and back in the oven until cooked.
Mmmmm. Lovely.

Serve on a bed of chilled Rocket laced with lemon juice and very thin slices of raddish to the edges.
Try it it's Beautiful
No need for anything else let the flavour come out of the Cod.

If you don't want to take ages how about ratatoille?
Cook some courgettes, onions, aubergines and mushrooms and add passata and basil for a quick'n'easy approximation.

Cod goes beautifully with braised puy lentils, especially if you garnish the whole thing with thin slices of grilled pancetta.

I really like both fruits and fresh vegetables better, regardless how they look and taste. You desire a little of both.

In the event it's a fruit they have seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.
