The show of Iraq or Afghanistan does not prove its super power title. In the past, USA had avoided direct confrontation with USSR. Dropping the Atom Bomb on Japan few decades ago had made them powerful in the world...but the current scene is different. I think USA should fight with China to know what the tough war really means? It will be a fantastic lesson for all big mouths (mostly Americans giving warnings to the world)

OK folks. This is how it shakes down.
A superpower is a country that possesses enough nuclear weaponry to end life on the face of the earth. As such, these nations will never be conquered by military force for fear of global destruction in a "use it or lose it" scenario. In other words, if a country is losing a war and in danger of being conquered, they may very well destroy the world. You may not like that definition, but that is the way it is.
Therefore, these countries are considered "impervious to military action".
Now that does not include internal revolution (as we saw when the USSR broke apart) or migratory invasion (as we see in the present state of the USA with illegal immigrants). The USSR fell and the USA may fall still, but it won't be from a military defeat.
So, in effect, yes, the USA is a superpower, but it is hardly the only one. Russia and China both meet the criteria of a superpower.
For that reason, there will never be an all out war between them; border skirmishes and proxy fights, possibly, but never a full scale invasion.

USA is not merely a Super Power as declared by itself. rather it is accepted as such by the whole world due the followings:
1. it has the VITO power in the UNO
2. it has the most powerful N-Bombs
3. it has one of the biggest armys in the world
4. latest technology and science
5. constantly growing and the strongest economy till date.
Fighting with China or India or any other country is useless as this doesn't matter to the whole world whoever is known as the super power.
Some other day, some other country shall come on the top.
Fights may ruin everything. We may not be there to ask and answer such questions after that.

A super power in the world is not only a nation which maintains absolute soverienty in its own territory, but also has a great deal of influence in world polatics, economy and events.
The US is a super power, regardless of our recent rediculas failure in Iraq. However, whether we remain a super power in the next decade, or whether its a good thing to have been one in the first place is another question all together.

Yes USA is a super power. As much as possible war has to be avoided because innocent civilians are the main casualties much more than what the military tend to lose. But when terrorists strike and kill thousands of innocent people then war
is inevitable...

The US is a supper power in the since that it has a military and economic superiority over most other nations. I would also consider China, Russia super powers as well.

usa is only bussiness man not super power.he sold many weapond by wars.he can not be friend of any one.if any country think as it he is foolest country of world.usa is an orgnasiation of trading(claver) not more then else.usa always searching market for their trade at any cost (by wars by interfear two countries problem just like cheet brities).so usa is not super power.all are become super power if all are lose morality.usa loosed his morality so he says he is super power but truth is different.thats all.09990168761

No it is not the self given name even today american is called as the super power country they are havin a bvery good technology of bombs and misiles and even an good army force and a navy force and even they are having the latest technoloty of equipments that is why it called as a super natural country

Here in germany, United States of Europe, every pupil even in elementary school has to learn english from the 1st grade on, then from 5th grade on another foreign language, in the most case french or spanish or latin/ancient greek.
To get to Univerity / college we have to learn here.
Some university has 41 nobels laureates. (University of Goettingen) - a small university.
When I see MTV´s next, I get a "hairdryer in my ear" from those us-woman.
Why the U.S. and A. think they are that powerful? Because american men are that tit-focused?
The United States of Europe and China are the next superpowers.

It was a superpower once but not anymore,,,,,,,Unfortunately the current government is solving everything with military might which is making the situation far more miserable,,,,and is spreading mistrust and chaos among the minds of not only American people but also the entire people of the world,,,,
