They believe that He was a prophet from God. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me. " If they believed that He was a prophet, and what He spoke was from God, why do Muslims not believe His words?

That's a very good question. If they did believe the things Jesus Christ said, then they would also know Jesus is the Son of God, but as it stands, they would put more importance on a false prophet than the Son of God. Jesus Christ warned of false prophets, muslims have just managed to pick and choose what Jesus Christ said.

Unfortunately, Muslims are not able to believe nor disbelieve in the words of Jesus. Given the bible was written by the hand of man, no doubt errors will be made. Even a dot, a small dot on one letter of the Greek alphabet can change the word slave to son and perhaps the scribe did it unknowingly, lifting his head up from the text he was copying to see who's at the door and a drop of ink slipped off his quill and fell on this word which changed meaning. We do not know what is true or untrue. The way and the light etc.. is hearsay someone wrote what they heard Jesus say. Why isn't the FACT that Jesus's mention of the coming of Mohammed as widely touted as the saying of the truth, the light etc.? Like I said, we don't know what to believe from the Bible. You mean to tell me that when he was on his knees praying in the garden, he was praying to himself? Where did this trinity business come from? Why wasn't Barabas's (sp) writings included in the selections of the bible given he actually walked with him whereas we have to read what writers wrote after 40 years of Jesus's existance. There are so many contradictions in the bible that I gave up trying to believe in a fickle book. I recommend the following very good read.

Because Muslims believe that he never claimed divinity and that he never claimed being God's son. they look up to him as one of the noble messengers of God who brought down the message of One God.
Islamic beliefs say that he did not want people to attach divinity to him because of his miracles like healing the sick etc. but that was the outcome.
As for the Father and Son talk int he Bible, Muslims are of the view that that has been added to the Bible and that God never claimed being the father of any human being.
Muslims believe in the authenticity of their book, the Quran whereas you would treat the Bible as authentic so you cannot argue, you can just smile at the similarities.
Cheers.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me. " Yes, its true Jesus say that. But Prophet Muhammad says, " God is nearer to you than your neck vein". He revealed the secrets of God and carry on what Jesus have left.

Christians should make remedies to convince the Muslims in believing Jesus as God the son and not a prophet. their should be very convincing words in attracting the Muslim to join Christianity

We Muslims believe, that Jesus was one of the mightiest messengers of God that he was the Christ, that he was born miraculously without any male intervention (which many modern-day Christians do not believe today), that he gave life to the dead by God's permission and that he healed those born blind and the lepers by god's permission. In fact, no Muslim is a Muslim if he or she does not believe in Jesus!

Azekiel 18:20: The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. (no savior)

Praise be to Allah.

As I said in one of my answers wrong questions don't have right answers.
who told you that muslims dont believe in prophet 'Easa's (Jesus) (peace be upon him) word??
We as muslims do believe what Jesus (peace be upon him) TRULY said, beacuse we also believe that the bible present nowadays is far from being true and is corrupt and this is evidenced by many evidences,so how do u expect us to believe that this bible is Jesus' (peace be upon him) words??? as an example try to read the question I've posted (How would you explain that???).
SO, we believe in the prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) but not in the words present nowadays because it's not his.

And even read the question you've posted carefully specially the part you quoted from YOUR bible "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me."
Fine, here's the question what about people who were before Jesus (peace be upon him) are they in Hell? because it would be accepted if it says I'm (a way) and not (THE way) and also notice the part when it says "no one comes to the Father except through Me.", so how do you answer that?

TO djmantx:
It seems that you don't understand the 2 verses you've quoted well, so I'll add few details and I'll add the context, Allah says (interpretation of the meaning) in Surat Al-An'aam :
114: Say: "Shall I seek for judge other than Allah? - when He it is Who hath sent unto you the Book (the Qur'aan), explained in detail." They know full well, to whom We have given the Book (the torah and bible), that it (the QUR'AAN and NOT THE BIBLE) hath been sent down from thy Lord in truth. Never be then of those who doubt.
115: The word of thy Lord doth find its fulfilment in truth and in justice: None can change His words: for He is the one who heareth and knoweth all.
Here's the context:
Once the disbelievers asked prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to seek a judge from christian or jewish bishops, then Allah revealed to prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) these 2 verses. i.e Allah said to prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) not to accept a judge other than Allah (i.e to judge through the Qur'aan) and those disbelievers (to whom We have given the Book) know very well that this Qur'aan is revealed by and it's the truth and the word of Allah won't be changed not as what's done with Torah and Bible.
And if you'll ask why Allah couldn't protect the true bible form corruption. Pleas, read my answer in the question : (Muslim if you stated that the Holy Bible today is corrupt why would God choose Muhammed to deliver the koran?).

Muslims believe the word of God can be corrupted by man which is contrary to what the Qu'ran teaches....6:114,115
114. Say: "Shall I seek for judge other than Allah. - when He it is Who hath sent unto you the Book, explained in detail." They know full well, to whom We have given the Book, that it hath been sent down from thy Lord in truth. Never be then of those who doubt.

115. The word of thy Lord doth find its fulfilment in truth and in justice: None can change His words: for He is the one who heareth and knoweth all.

Allah claims he is the author of the Bible and that his word can not be changed

If they do not believe the Qu'ran and Allah they surely will not believe the true God and his true word.

Byefreed: your Allah is who said do you not believe your Allah?

It is in your Qu'ran do you not believe your Qu'ran?

Who said to you that the Bible is God's or Jesus's word?
Allah said He send Jesus with the Injeel, where is that Injeel. Why haven't you ever heard of it instead of the biography of Jesus by John Matthieu Mark etc etc.....?

what? since when muslims don't believe his word? i know you trying to say "his words" refer to he is a god or something like that.that claim he is a god only exist in bible, not in quran.muslims believe bible is actually edited muslims holy book, torah (muslim have more than 1 holy books actually).so that why muslims don't believe jesus is a god, because that statement came from muslims unreliable source, bible (aka edited torah that i mention above) not from torah and quran
