You mean current weather conditions, not a forecast? The transportation industry uses them. Virtually every NOAA station is at a major airport. Air temperature has a considerable affect on the amount of lift an aircraft has at take-off. Every pilot does a calculation to determine how much weight (including fuel) the plane can carry prior to each take-off. The wind velocity and direction are important factors as well. Of course severe weather, such as rain, fog, freezing conditions affect surface transportation as well. I drive around the state and frequently check current conditions so I may need to change routes or adjust travel time estimates.
