It's a brilliant idea! Lots of people like the idea of using sweets as favours, especially ones from their childhood like 'lovehearts' and 'cherry lips'
There are so many things that can be done with sweets and all the colours mean that every bride should be able to find something in her colour scheme!
Even offering your stall at the reception itself is a new and original idea!
I like it!

Think a lot depends on your research of profit margins etc. If they are hand made time and effort would also have to be considered. Around here where I am edible is the 'in' thing as most other type of favours just get left lying around. Possibly be a better idea have a range of almonds (coloured and gold) sweets, chocolates etc suitable for favours, for example love heart shaped chocs (my daughter had these) and put them in fancy little boxes, bags or tulle wrapped. Only thing I would say is that little boxes etc for favours can be bought so cheap via Internet that everyone is catching on, they are loads cheaper than the wedding supplier places. An alternative would be to have just a special range of sweets suitable for favours that people making their own may want. Most would over buy wanting something to keep themselves and bridesmaids chewing while making the favours and you would get more profit!!! Good luck.

You need to do some serious research in your area before you do this. Yes it's a lucrative idea but Brides to be (like myself) probably wouldn't think to go to a sweet stall for their favours. It's nothing to do with snobbery but sweet stalls offer small bags of sweets, in quarters or whatever, they are not known to offer the whole tub which is what would be needed.
You should ask your regulars and maybe put up a poster saying you will offer them all made up on request first.
FYI, I have chewits, sours and sweet necklaces in my favours which I made myself with a square of fabric and a ribbon tied round.

At one wedding I went to the favours were lovehearts (small sweets with romantic messages on them), they were great fun. If they are for keeping (under the pillow type of thing) then sugared almonds keep very well. You could have small samples with different coloured webbing to show your range. Brides will want their favours to match the Bridesmaids dress colour so you shouldn't make up big batches, they will go to waste.

Hi JRSB
Usually it's sugared almonds, but these days brides can pick some pretty unusual sweets as favours, so don't limit yourself.
I work for a packaging company (i'm not trying to advertise myself here so don't report me! I'm trying to HELP) and we sell those little bags people put the sweets in, so if you need help etc let me know.

I think this is a great idea, however i would be inclined to sell the sweets in bulk tubs so that brides to be can ut the individual favours together themselves i.e. marshmallows, lovehearts, sweet necklaces for the kids etc. Thats how i am doing it, buying bulk sweets and putting them together in individual boxes with personalised tags on xx

It's a great idea, especially if you can box or bag them so they look like favours.
It was traditional to have sugared almonds but nowadays people are having lots of different things, mini eggs, chocolate hearts, "love hearts" sweets, some people even have black jacks and fruit salad sweets - things they remember from childhood.
Check out some of the wedding web sites and then do your math see if you can afford to do it AND make a proffit.

yes indeed. u could make a mint out of doing that kind of work. (OMG i just used a pun.. wasnt intentional lol).
go for it. i, as part of my wedding gift to a friend, offered to make her wedding favours up... bought sugared almonds and some other pretty things and some netting and ribbon... only to be told she was having 250 guests........ dont think i slept for 3-4 days making the damn things as i work full time also! but she loved them.
think i still have the wounds from the scissors from running them up the ribbon to curl the silly stuff!!
all the best with ur venture.
xx

Great idea, let the brides choose whatever is appropriate to their wedding. It doesn't have to be just sugared almonds anymore, people use all sorts of things, I would order some chocolate coated strawberries for example.

That's something different, Sugared Almonds are the usual thing, They would have to be in nice packaging though.Maybe customers could order the colour packaging to fit in with the wedding plans.
