The liberal media spouts off about Islam being a "peaceful" religion, but yet the Qu'ran allows Muslim men to beat their wives. Christianity and Judaism show reverence and respect for their wives. Your opinion?

I will not get into the blame game but i can proudly say that what you have said is not true.
I can give you two sayings of the Prophet Mohammad
(peace be upon him)
1. The woman is made from the rib of Adam. If you let a rib be as it is it will be bent but if you use force to straiten it you will break it, so use wisdom.
meaning that you should neither give them total freedom as to do what ever they want nor should you use force. Choose a path of wisdom with them. You can see both extrems in our current world none of the exterems stand for islam.
2. In one of the Hadits (Sayings of the Prophet Mohammad) it is stated that once the Prophet was passing near a grave yard with his Ashab (Sahabi are those muslims that had met the Prophet in his lifetime and Ashab is the plural) He stopped by a grave and said that the owner of this grave (the person in it) is being punished very hard. the Ashab asked why is he being punished he was one of us. The Prophet said that he mistreated his wife.
Even though what i have said is not quoted text but simplified as per my understanding you will see what islam teaches us.
beating women is more culture than islam. Islam was the first religion that gave them interitence rights and the right to be educated. Actually the Prophet (PBUH) says "Seeking knowledge is a must on every muslim man and woman".

Any religion, or nation for that matter, who oppresses 50% of their population is doomed to dysfunction, to being economically weak and to inner strife (all from the same basic cause: strangling the inputs of women to society automatically removes some of the best elements in humanity God gave us).
The best example of this was when women began entering the work force in the 60s and 70s and America's economy began growing at a much faster pace due to simply doubling the labor force. At the same time, many old cultural norms have begun disappearing, such as horse racing, boxing, smoking rooms, gentlemen's clubs, etc. They're not gone, but our society has gone a long way down the road of feminization because of the female leadership we now enjoy.
America and other free nations enjoy a full range of talents and tastes that Muslim nations can't enjoy.

Truthfully yes. Only because of what I learn from the media and someone e-mailed me a link showing me a teenage girl was getting stoned to death because she was seen with a Muslim boy. It was done on the street in public. It was so horrific and inhuman. I don't know if it was Muslim's or another Middle East group. I don't know much about your culture and am willing to learn to understand the truth. Never to judge without knowing the true facts. The Muslims in America are not anything like that. They are very well respectable people. I trust them in America. They also in return give me respect. I hope wife beating is the truth NOT your CUSTOM.

Serious? Does the Quran permits the beating of wife for no reason? In what condition does a muslim is allowed to beat his wife? Is there any guidelines on how to beat and which part of the body? My friend, the quran offers solution if your wife misbehaves. Its up to you. And if you want to do it, you are not allowed to use your hands or any hard objects such as cane or whip. U can only use a piece of cloth but only after she did you wrong and you have already advise her 1st. And then if she did you wrong again, scold her. And if she did it again for the 3rd time, seperate ur sleeping area with her. And if she misbehaves again, then the cloth must be use and the area to beat is the lower body area. And if she doesn't learn, divorce is the ultimate solution. So, it all comes down to tolerence and educating first.

Got a quotation from the qu'ran or the Hadith that supports that? Probably not and the question just exposes your ignorance.
Islam teaches respect for women, it's not God fault if certain cultures don't follow it and that's the same for Christianity and Judaism.

Depends on how you grew up and your culture,simply.
Yes,unfortunately,women are to a certain degree 'inferior' to men in the Islamic world.But they have different morals.Whats right to them may be wrong to you.
But Christianity isnt a peaceful religion either.Christianity has killed millions of Jews and Pagans and have taken many rights of freedom and speech to other religions here.Almost NO religion is peaceful.Buddhism is the only religion,really,that I can think of being PEACEFUL.
I also noticed that a bunch of ignorant cretins only want to rate people's answers here instead of actually writing something.i know who you are...mmuhahahaaa.lol.

show me the text from the qu'ran and i might believe. even if that is true the man still has the decision to make on his own, one rule doesn't make a religion violent.
isn't it in the bible "an eye for an eye" does that sound peaceful? and men of other religions beat their wives too, ER's see it everyday.
no religion is perfect.

as for christianity showing reverence and respect for their wives, lemme remind you of the passage that says no woman shall holdseniority over a man....and lets not forget the whole "if you rape her you have to marry her" thing.

Yeah, and didn't your god tell Abraham to sacrifice his son? Destroy Soddom and Gamorrah? Punish moses by letting him wander in a desert with 40,000 jews following him and then tell him he can't enter the "promised land"? Shall we discus the Inquisition, the Crusades, jim jones, or the abuses of the christian church in the new world?
All religions are able to be distorted to appease the zealots. Question is, are you a muslim zealot or a christian zealot? How different are they really? different bibles, same behavior.
