Im not trying to offend, Im just curious as to why it's deemed as basically blasphemy and so wrong in the Islam religion? Its only a picture!!! If memory serves right last time this happened there was a huge uproar with Muslims all over the world in the streets with banners, claiming death to all infidels, is that not a bit extreme?
Also is it only Mohammad or is it all the prohets like Abraham, Jesus etc. I dont believe it is wrong in Christianity or Judaism to draw pictures of Christ or Abraham so why would it in Islam?

Firstly we have no idea how Muhammed (saw) looked, giving people a false picture or a made up picture of how he looked would be misleading.

secondly: Islam does not allow the drawing of any person or animal. In Islam we believe that the eyes are the window to the soul - that is why a picture or drawing of anything that has eyes is not allowed. (if you look at cultures that practice voodoo or black magic - peoples photo's are mainly used to harm the person)

thirdly - In christianity every person draws a different picture of Jesus Christ & people actually believe that he looks like the picture. (that is indirectly misleading people) that is why Islam always has a realistic approach to life, nothing in Islam is fabricated or a fairytale & nothing changes to accomadate todays lifestyle.

Lastly: The pictures that were published of our holy Prophet(saw) was direspectful & it depicted him as a terriorist & a morally bad person with an impure character. THe Prophet was a person of pure character , high values & good morality . so you asking why were we upset, our religion is made fun of & our prophet was disrespected - any person would be angry. In Islam respect is important & unlike other religions we do not allow anyone to disrespect what we believe , love & cherish.

I believe in freedom of speech but a line has to be drawn. being milliscouse & disrespectful should not be considered freedom of speech.

The rules of Christian depiction of Christ, saints, etc has been malleable throughout time. There have been ICONOCLASTS that have smashed images at certain times, and there are sects that ban depictions of Christ (for whatever reason)
Muslims believe, if I understand it correctly, that a depiction of Mohammed is a graven image, and must be avoided.

it's not the pictures per se, its the messages portrayed through the picture that offends so many, it was just a pic portraying him then fine, sure us Muslims are not allowed to draw him but you guys aren't Muslims therefore aren't bound by our rules

I've seen lots of pictures of Muhammad. Besides, he won the World Heavy Weight titles for most K.O.'s. "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!"

It very well could be that they don't wnat someone draw his picture, because someone may get it correct & then people can see how sinful he was.

Assalamoalaikum wa rahmatullahi wa baraqatuhu
May peace, blessings and mercy of Allah be on all of you.

As we all know that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the GREATEST in all men ever born on earth. Therefore if people have his picture then they will soon start worshipping him.And worshipping anyone besides Allah (swt) is the greatest sin in Islam.
