My goodness! I had the same problem!
I am dark brown hair and I think I am the whitest person alive. I tried on the traditional white because my mother told me you can only wear white once, but I looked terrible. I wound up going with a beautiful ivory color. Made a HUGE difference - the difference between looking sickly and washed out to looking healthy and with some color!
I wish you all the best!

I had only 5 months to plan my entire wedding. The 1st thing I did was gown shop on line. What a mistake!!!! Find a few bridal shows in your area...they usually have women modeling wedding gowns. And these models are naturally sized women. Like size 6-14. Not anorexic models. As soon as I saw a gown that I loved, I then went on line to that specific manufacturer and looked at all the colors that were available. I too am very fair and with dark brown/black hair. I tried on white, winter white and diamond white. (It is true.... you only get to wear a white wedding gown once). I went with the diamond white. I didn't blend into the dress. It also helped that I went for 5 sessions of tanning before the wedding. What a difference!!!!

I bought my dress off the rack. So my advice to you is pick a dress style that you want first, then choose the color. I saw the dress I wanted, it happened to be Ivory, and I took it. I personally think if you have all these requirements on a dress, it's going to be that much harder to find a dress. When I went to get my dress I had all these printouts of what I what type of dress I wanted, when I tried them on I hated them. I eneded up falling in love with something totally different. So basically look on-line, but be open minded when you go to the store.

I have similar coloring and tried on all kinds of shades. I looked terrible in "white white" but great in ivory and diamond white. I ended up wearing a diamond white dress.

Go to a bridal salon and try different ones on next to your skin and see what looks the best. Take someone with you who'll tell you the truth. Don't always listen to the clerk - she wants to sell a dress! lol It'd be best to see it in person rather than decide from a website. Good luck. I'm sure you'll be a beautiful bride.

The sales agent at the bridal shop would be a better help, try diffrent shade and pick the one that suits you the best. Also take a close friend along so that you can have a second, third opinion.

ivory would look stunning, try on some different styles in various colours, that's the only way you will truly know what looks best.
