I think the taxi fare should be around 250 baht. The best place to get a taxi at the airport is the departure level, there are many, many taxis dropping people off there, and they are more than happy not to have to queue up in the arrival taxi area, and you can save the 50 baht fee. I used to live around the corner from the Century Park Hotel and there shouldn't be any tollways all the way to your hotel. To answer your second question, no you cannot take the Skytrain from the airport, as the Skytrain only operates two lines, pretty much within the central Bangkok area, there is an express train under construction, but it won't be completed for another two years or so. You could take a bus to Victory Monument which is only about a half mile or so from your hotel, and taxi from there, but a taxi all the way from the airport is your best and quickest way. Have fun!

Take a meter taxi from ground level (you have to go down 1 level from arrivals). You pay an extra 50 baht on top of the meter fare for airport taxi, so the total will be about 300 baht including tollway fares (2 tollways at 40 baht & 25 baht). Todays exchange rate is about 65 baht to 1 Pound, so that is about 4 pounds & 60p - check the exchange rate when you travel. Avoid the dozens of touts at the arrivals hall saying "Taxi sir/madam, where you going?" - they are limo taxis with a set rate of 800 to 1000 baht each, plus tollway on top.
