red- depends on the 2 indivduals and whether they love each other or not. if you truly loved someone you would NEVER cheat on them and you would never want to leave their side.

What's good for one 20 year-old isn't the best for another 20 year-old. It also depends on the person they are marrying. Is there potential? Is the relationship solid?

I got married at 18, and I often hear that "oh wow you were so young!" yet my marriage has lasted 5 years so far and is going even stronger as the years have passed.

Did you know that the average marriage today only lasts 1 year? Sad isn't it? I say, if you are truly dedicated to your partner and your partner is truly dedicated to you, then go for it. Only you can make that decision if you're ready or not. Also remember that, you don't have to rush out and get married, so if you aren't 110% sure about getting married right now, then give yourself an extra 6 months and reevaluate your feelings.

It's your future and your decision. I wish the two of you the very best!

Hi Steve
Rather than say what is the best age here's me in a nut shell. Started courting at 31, house at 34, married at 38, father of 2 at 40 and 43, coming up to 47. I think it's the kids that make me feel young, and on reflection I would have liked to have had been a father and started courting earlier say by 5 or 6 years giving me longer with the kids and maybe grand kids. But at the end of the day it's your choice but never get pushed into things.
Good Luck with your choices.

It can be too young.

I got married at that age and had kids. Kinda wished I had stayed out of the marriage game for a while longer but I'd never trade those kids.

Take some time to find the right person or make sure she's the right person. Taking time is the only way to be sure that you're actively trying to avoid a bad relationship.

I think that totally depends on what you want in life. I got married at 22, which even at the time I knew was too young for me. We got divorced a couple of years later, and that was a much better decision than the one to get married. It was a disruptive experience though, so I really wish I'd waited. If you've got other things you want to learn about and do before you get married, don't feel pressured to do it now. It's a lot easier to delay than to find your way back. But if what you want in life is to be married, then I know there are people that that's the right decision for.

When I got married, the average age for a guy was about 21, now it's much older, probably due to the fact that getting married was the only option, living together just didn't happen! Now it's socially acceptable to try it out before you marry!, I take it that you live in the UK? Any way, have a happy life, I have!

Well let me start off by making a quick comment...YOUR NEVER TO OLD OR TO YOUNG FOR MARRAGE..... Now let me explain why I say this to you.....
1. Some 16 year olds are mature enough and know they are ready.
2. Some 20 year olds are mature enough and ready.
3. Age is just a number it don't matter.
The big questions to ask yourself are
1. are you ready to spend your life with only one person?
2. are you ready to settle down
3.do you really love this person till death do you part?
4. and finally, is the other person ready to do all the above.
if the other person is not ready to do any of the above then i would sugguess you not get married but just live together for a couple of years.....

Marriage isn't about age, although the younger you are, the less experience you've had in relationships. It's about how you feel about your life and yourself and if you are ready to commit yourself to one person. Only get married if you feel like you will be with them in 10 years, 20 years, or longer. It will depend on how long you've been with them too, but again, the major factors aren't just love, but experience. Take it slow and don't mention marriage unless you absolutely know that you want it, don't leave any doubt or you might be smelling divorce in the near future.

Personally I think 20 is too young. I got married first time at 21 yrs of age and now I know that was way too early. 2nd time round I was 27 & my husband 30 yrs old and we've been together 22 years. I would wait just a few years xxxxxxxxxxx

How about waiting for 4-5 years before you get married. It is a bit too early right now. Marriage is a huge responsibility and you need to attain a certain amount of maturity which comes only with age before taking this step.

You really need to know what is in your heart and your head. It is harder for alot of people that get married at your age because you and you significant other are still coming into your adult personalities so alot of times the transition from who you are to who you become can be difficult for a younger couple to tolerate, however if you both have fairly easy personalities and truly love one another then it can work out just fine. Just make sure that both of you are willing to work at it if things get tough and you hit a rough spot.............too many people think marriage is disposable.
