I am a nurse and yes, if her period is so heavy and lasted for more than a month, there is a cause for concern. She may be having some menses disorder and with her losing so much of blood, it can be life-threatening. Please wait no more and get her to the hospital asap. You need to provide as much details as you can to the doctor. E.g. how long has this been happening; when did the period start; how many pads is she soaking a day etc. The doctor will perform some blood tests to decide what to do. Take care and pls get her help asap.

well.. i have heavy periods that last 4-5 weeks about twice a year, nothing is 'apparently' wrong with me but i would suggest getting her to a doctor quickly especially as her iron and blood levels could be dropping unhealthily!

tell her to see a doctor. (ob/gyn)
if she has no insurance she can go to a local county hospital ... or even PLANNED PARENTHOOD. To find a local planned parenthood near you call toll-free 1-800-230-PLAN (1-800-230-7526)
good luck.
