Sure, it is...
After the media frenzy wears off...
After the series of Updates...
After the usual Microsoft SP 1, 2 releases...
I'd wait at least 6 months to a year...then I'd go 4 it!
Rule of thumb regarding ANY Microsoft "new" release, sit a spell, wait at least 6 months for all the major bugs to be worked out then test drive it first, then back up your system first, then install it. If it does work, you're in business, if not wait another 6 months and repeat the process.

It looks very good - a friend in the trade recommends the HOMe Premium edition, however run the Microsoft Vista Compatibility programme (www.microsoft.com) first. It told me that several of my software packages (including Norton Internet Security 2007) had to be removed first before installing VIsta as they were not compatible. Another pitfall is ensure you buy the right version e.g 32 or 64 Bit for your processor they are NOT interchangable. You need a minimum of 512 of RAM but preferably 1MB to run. Depending on the age of your computer I would check thouroughly befor purcahsing. It may be cheaper in the long run to buy a new CPU with it installed already 'cos it is around £150. I would go for it when it gets cheaper as it does away with a lot of other software you might have loaded and is more secure than XP.

Not yet. I have it and I re-installed XP because of compatibility issues with some of the software I use like Nero 6. If I elect to use Vista, I cannot use this version of Nero and the company that makes Nero refuses to fix it. There are also driver issues with a whole class of hardware.
No, I would wait at least a year for the product to take off, then you might consider upgrading.

I used my friends laptop. he has Basic. You can get a free transformation pack off the web and it will look just like(without 3D preview screen, which looks really cool). Another person i talked to said he liked the way it looked. the guy also said he heard of ppl having problems setting up network printers. I did not notice anything extraordinary about it. They will probably have a patch for it soon, I guess.

Nope. Not until Service Pack 1 and probably not until Service Pack 2. 80% of machines out there ain't up to it and if you have an iPod you'll be cream crackered cos it doesn't work yet.

Not yet. Wait for the inevitable Service Packs to fix the many bugs, and for drivers etc. to be written for it. I'd give it at least 6 months, probably a year. Your machine will need to be swift & capable too - it's pretty resource-hungry.
