I am confused as to why Christians in particular capitalize the word god. The Christian god according to Exodus 6:2 is named Yahweh. Shouldn't god work the same way as king, by itself it isn't capitalized but preceding a name like King James or the God Yahweh? Is there any reason why this breaks the capitalization of titles rule or is it just because someone wanted to make the word look more important?

Look in a Bible. When referring to God, the word is ALWAYS capitalized.

* You are correct however Christians feel that the name of god is god you will know I tell the truth when you ask Christians what it means to use god's name in vain and they will say it is by saying things like oh my God or g*****nor By God, they are not aware that in bible times to use god's name in vain was to break an oath in which you swore in the name of god.

For people to claim the bible is the word of god and that they follow it, they know nothing about it, but just because I am now Wiccan and I do know scripture they claim I am decieved because if I really knew the bible I would not be Wiccan, of course they have to tell themselves things like that because when I show them scripture they do not know, they need to discredit my knowledge of the bible somehow, or they might just see how wrong they are on things.**

It's funny but the English [Anglo-Saxon really] language has been used to capitalizing ''God'' pertaining to the Christian god being 'diffrent' and seeming otherwise superior to all other ''gods''.It's just a matter of language and culture, really.
For example ,'Allah' means 'God',too. His name is also 'God'!.But when we refer to him here, nobody would really capitalize the word god when referring to him. So,there's america for ya.

The Fundie Xian point of view is that there is only one God, and thus when referring to said God (singular, one), you should capitalize it because there is only one. "Yahweh" is a best-guess translation of a word that was lost in ancient Hebrew and meant simply "I AM."

It's also a sign of respect to the One who made us.

Only the Christians will insist the word God be capitalised ..... other people will just do it out of respect and courtesy.

All names are capitlized. That is the proper way to spell. When you write your name dont you capitilize it? Just like when you end a sentence you add a period. Or if your sentence is a question, you put a question mark. Do you understand?????????????
