I've noticed everyone describes their horses as beautiful. :) Well my horse ain't the pertiest horse in the world to other people, but he is to me. He's a bay mustang, about eight years old, and terribly sunbleached at the moment. Yeah once we start keeping the horses in during the day, he'll darken up and be beautified. And the reason why he's sunbleached in the winter is because I live in Florida XD

His name is Cracker and I've been riding him since I was nine years old. I got him for my surprise birthday when I was twelve. So I've been riding him for a total of five years. I barrel race with him, but I also practice "speaking" to horses with him. I like natural horsemanship, but I'm trying to develop my own method with horses.

The statistics on him...His name is Cracker. His color is dark bay. He has a brand on his left shoulder and a scar on his right hind quarter. He's 14.3 hh. About eight years old. His bloodlines are a mystery, seeing as I got him from some redneck cowboy a while back. All I know was that his sire was a champion in...something O.o

Cracker will do anything for me. Since he's a mustang, his sure-footedness will take me through any trail. I've been through wetlands, through steep ditches and ravines, stuck in the mud, passed by crocodiles, in the ocean, on the trail in a hundred degree weather, and to all the corners of my imagination on him. He's the most trusting little horse I've ever had.

As you can probably tell, I could talk all day about my horse :) So I'll end it here on this note

I had a beautiful Arabian gelding who I lost last year at the age of 24. His barn name was "Ace." His registered name was The Auctioneer.

I'd known Ace since he was foaled. He was the first foal of his dam, and his breeder was my roommate in college. She bred her mare FTL Angelina (Angie to her friends) to a diminutive son of Bay el Bey named Bay Moon. Angie was just 15 hands and Bay Moon was pony-sized, about 14.2 hands, so his breeder expected to get a very petite foal.

However, that's not the way it worked out. Ace matured at 16.1 hands-- HUGE for an Arabian. He was also big-boned, very stout-looking, and although he had a beautiful head it wasn't real "typey" Arab.

As long as I owned him, wherever we went, people would try to puzzle out what kind of a horse he was. I had people guess Anglo-Arab, Andalusian, Traekhener, Quarter horse, Percheron cross (!!!!), "some kind of warm blood," and "Araby-looking Thoroughbred."

He was a horse with a beautiful soul. He lived in virtual retirement for the last four years of his life after foundering in one front foot following an abscess.

Before that, I owned an unregistered horse that we believed was purebred but unregistered Thoroughbred, a bay gelding we named Justin. I was only able to keep him for three years before circumstances forced me to sell him, but I kept track of him and he lived a long and loved life before his death in is mid-twenties (we could only guess his age to within a year or two when I got him, the vet figuring he was 9 years + or - two years; the people we bought him from told me he was "about" 7 when I bought him).

I want to get another horse some day soon.
