Or scoundrels who call themselves representatives of these groups of people of faith, but who represent nobody but themselves.

Tracy2119: that's a perfect example of a sweet person being taken advantage of because her faith left her open to exploitation, she was regularly losing some extra cash she really could have used herself, but there are other more sinister ways people can exploit nice people like your Gran who's faith makes them too trusting of anyone who uses the name God.

My grandmother use to send money like clock work to the PTL and she was poor. Then years later the scandel broke about Jim Baker. My grandmother was couldn't believe it.
Having faith in God is never wrong, my grandmother had a whole alot of faith. She never said not one bad thing about Jim Baker after all that happened. I know my grandmother is in heaven now because she was sincere about sending money she barely had. The Good Lord always took care of her, she never had enough money, but with the Good Lord's help she always managed to survive. God didn't look down on my grandmother for sending money to a place that was taking advantage of people (she didn't know at the time) but I bet He rewarded her for it.
It's never wrong to have faith in God, it's takes a forgiving person not to get angry when somebody does take advantage of you.

Yes, unfortunately there are scoundrels around who exploit Christians. The only consolation is they won't get into heaven.

Faith is not being naïve. The Bible, for example, encourages believers to constantly test everything they hear or read before accepting it as truth.

So naïve people are vulnerable, but not people who know what they believe and why they believe it.
I actually believe ignorance is more dangerous, because so many people get into cults because it "sounds" good, they just don't realize the message of the Bible, or the Quran, is distorted.
People need to read their Holy Books for themselves.

Faith is a human quality, just like love or hope.

All three are exercised by all human beings all the time, as are their opposites: skepticism, hate, and despair.

Absolutely. Faith is the ultimate evil: it is the deliberate rejection of the one distinguishing characteristic of humanity: the ability to reason.
