There is nothing new here. Every fresh driver has this fear. It is only natural and shows that you value your own life and also that of others. I have gone through this phase myself. My suggestions to you would be:

1. Begin by driving on less crowded roads. Take an experienced friend with you to guide and encourage you in difficult moments. Drive on slopes as well as plane roads with him by your side,

2. When you go for a drive, don't think of the entire journey that you have ahead of you; just concentrate on covering the next 50 meters. That way, you will worry less and learn faster.

3. When you gain some confidence, venture out on highways and crowded areas. Follow strict lane discipline and respect all signals. Don't drive slowly in the fast lane, as people will start overtaking you on the wrong side and you will lose confidence. Also, leave your ego out of driving. Do not engage in races.

I am sure you will overcome the fear and soon become a good driver. Go ahead and take the first step.

First, no hurry, it takes time. Driving is a huge responsibility. I would suggest simulators or even driving games in an arcade. They will give you some experience and confidence. Once you feel a little better, try less busy days like Saturday or Sunday. Once that helps, work your way up to lunch on a week day. Then rush hour...oh boy. Now if you live outside a big city, it will be easier. Best of luck.
