dont do it whilst he is sleeping - that can cause him to have nightmares and be scared of sleeping.

give him the lid of the bottle and lay him on the sofa with his head on your lap, talk to him and maybe promise him a sweet when you are done - then do eye by eye - to be honest your probably going to have a battle but usually it only lasts for 7 days

If its too much ask your gp for the cream - that is alot easier to apply and better for children

I taught someone else on this board "the move" that my Pediatrician showed me....I hope I explain it correctly. First, you sit on the floor with your legs out in front of you. Then, lay him down on his back, between your legs so that his head is at the base of your crotch(he's pointing the same way as you but looking up at you). Then take each arm and put it under both your legs(his left arm goes under your left leg and right under right leg). Now you've got his arms down and his head cannot shake side to side b/c your thighs are preventing it. He can still kick up his legs but he cannot fight you if you come at his eyes. I hope this helps! Our pediatrician showed it to me and it really has changed my life! I tell everyone about "The Move!" Good luck!

i'd do it mutually as she's slumbering. if she sleeps sturdy basically pry her eye open a sprint and positioned it in that way. I truthfully have a 26 month previous and that i will't think of of something i could do for her to allow me come close to her eyes with eye drops! ultimate of success :)

oh eyedrops suck aye!!! i know it might sound horrible but if he really needs them how about just before he wakes up in the morning put them in while he's still half asleep? it will be unpleasant for him waking up for a few days but it'l be over quickly once the drops aren't needed anymore. especially if you're by yourself and it's hard for you to hold him down and his head and i can imagine it would be for a 3yr old, had to do it on my 1yr old and that was hard enough!

I had the same problem, with my two yr old.So i sat him on my lap and i told him to open up his hand, and i put a drop in his palm.
He started to laugh..I told him it was water..so then i asked him if i could put a Lil bit of water in his eyes and he said yes..So when i put the drops he saw it was no biggie and he never ran away again.
