It should be "does" not "do," and "ban" not "banned."

Ideas like what? Murdering your children is A-ok? Dressing like a sl*t in public is your right? Sleeping with as many people as you want is just you acting out your animal instincts?

Simple. They go against God's will for our lives. Sin isn't bad because it's forbidden, sin is forbidden because it's bad.

"Did you know that the Catholic church denounces the existence of dinosaurs? The earth is too young, according to them, for dinos to have existed. "

LOL! Since when??? The Roman Catholic Church has officially accepted Evolution as a fact. A former student of the current pope, Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn has said Roman Catholics can accept the possibility that God uses evolution as a tool. Likewise the Lutheran Church, the Episcopal Church, and just about all the "mainliners" have as well.

Obviously this question is a sock pupett account created probably by one of the Christian haters who is answering (which is gettin' pretty old) My advice, stop hating Christians and get on with your life. http://usminc.org/awful (updated)

Furthermore, I've met people of other religions who don't believe in Evolution. I don't make fun of them or look down on them because they don't share my belief in Evolution. My inlaws in Vietnam are Buddhists, they live in a society run by atheistic communists, and yet they don't believe in Evolution. There are even a few atheists that don't believe in it. Ralph Kirby of the Universal Life Church was an atheist who didn't beileve in either creationism or Evolution but figured mankind had just simply always existed. There have been and still are plenty of Christians who make contributions to science and technology. Here are just a few:

Sir Issac Newton
Robert Boyle (1627-1691) - important chemist and physicist
Jim Irwin (1930-1991) - astronaut, Ark Hunter
Buzz Aldrin -astronaut
Neil Armstrong -astronaut
James Clerk Maxwell - influential mathematician and physicist
Samuel Morse (1791-1872)
Louis Pasteur (1822-1895)
Hugh Ross - physicist
Francis Schaeffer - theologian and thinker (1912-1984)
Orville and Wilbur Wright - invented airplane
George Washington Carver (1864-1943) scientist and inventor

Thank you for the chance to address this error!

I give up, why do the church banned modern ideas?

2007-02-14 04:04:26 · answer #3 · answered by Raven Fuqfest's Twin Sister 1 · 5 0

ideas? like theory's? because they are just theorys and not true. God doesn't change but culture and opinions do. like say feminism. it's now starting to show it's true colors, with woman depressed from not having kids and men looked down upon. that was a new modern idea, but it wasn't accepted by the church, because it's mans' idea, not Gods.

Yaabro: So when does a theory become 'truth' then? You have absolutely no idea what a theory actually is, do you?!?! A theory is a set of assumptions based on a model that matches reality. Now, these models change as we learn more and our technology advances and thus theories change to accommodate that. That doesn't make them obsolete, it makes them dynamic.

A theory is not a static thing, it changes as we learn more. Your 'just a theory' stance is frustrating beyond belief!

What are you considering a modern idea? Is there any new idea out there that hasn't already been tried?

The Church is meant to be a stable foundation for those who believe in it. Therefor it does not easily accept new ideas or 'fads' so easily because it might undermine this foundation. The Church is about wisdom, not intelligence.

The church likes sheep, modern ideas steal from the mind control they inflict upon people and hell. they don't even like old ideas. Did you know that the Catholic church denounces the existence of dinosaurs? The earth is too young, according to them, for dinos to have existed.
