there is a difference between what Islam says Muslims should do and what individual Muslims actually do. Just as you will find among Christians, Jews, and others those people who do not follow what their religion teaches, so, too, you will find Muslims who do not follow the teachings of Islam. This may be due to their ignorance of the correct understanding of the Qur’an and Sunnah, or it may be due to their personal weaknesses and prejudices.

Islam teaches us to try to live in peaceful coexistence with those of other faiths. Muslims are not to attack others unless they are attacked first. The Qur’an says what means:
*{Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not, aggressors.}* (Al-Baqarah 2:190)

while you may see individual Muslims who hate Christians and Jews, the Qur’an does not teach us to hate them. Muslims are to treat Jews and Christians—indeed, all people—with respect, kindness, and justice while making their closest friends and allies among fellow Muslims. Only if the others begin hostilities may Muslims fight back.

Also they are Muslims not by the book but by the normal human consciousness. Among the ordinary Muslims, one can find a very few who is really knowledgeable in real theological features of Islam. Although the Quran and hadiths are the two pillars of Islam, non-Arab Muslims in general never read them, or if they read never understand them. Because, mostly they read Quran in Arabic which they don’t understand.

So, when some thing bad is done by any Muslim—immediately these blind-faith Muslims says the following:

Acts of terror committed frequently around the world in the name of Islam have nothing to do with real Islam.

The Prophets and messengers are free from sin before and after the message. If they do something then this is an inward command. This is the understanding of the majority. Someone who says that a prophet can make a mistake or a major sin should not be followed and his opinion to be taken as suspect.

This is a very important point that should be CLEARLY addressed by Muslim scholars. The Quran includes many verses that order Muslims to be nice and tolerant, but it also includes many other verses that order Muslims to be harsh and violent. Scholars should clearly clarify the discrepancy.

Yes! You are absolutely right. They are just following the command of the Lord.

EDIT: Clive Roland, I agree with you totally, but beg to state that the people that you're referring to aren't "perfect" Muslims.

I've met such people myself. They are the ones who don't know the Koran by heart, watch movies, wear western attire, and advocate all those things which orthodox/pristine Islam doesn't stand for.

If you come across a "true" Muslim I bet you'll run for your life!
