I read that there is a high possibility of recurrent depression after a major episode within the next 3 years. Is there really a cure that will prevent this?

Try a tonic of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. Just 2 tbls. 2 x day or more, as needed. It really worked for me. Its all natural too. Has 93 vitamins and minerals. Read the apple cider vinegar website. Curbs appetie, grows hair and nails long. aids digestion, cures acne, lose weight. I like to take it before bed so I do not wake up hungry or in a bad mood. I sleep like a baby.

As far as I know there is no cure. However, there is a way to live with depression.. Taking medication, and doing something to help your self besides medication. I fight depression, as I am bipolar. In my experience I have to help myself besides take the medication. I try to keep active. I have a strong support group that I associate with regularly. I read and study my Bible and when I'm getting depressed, I'll find scriptures that help, usually in Psalms after King David committed murder so he could have Bath-sheba. Or when Job was loosing his material belongings and his whole family, because Satan was testing him. Any way, I also will walk, take vitamins, any thing I can do that will help me feel better so I won't have a relapse. We can relapse with depression if we don't stay on the top of it; and know when to start working harder.

Depression is a temporary situation, every one got sort of depression at certain point in his life, people get depressed at one day, and next day may be they become normal. When a man get depressed he should find out something bring happiness to him, leave the place to another, find some joyful group to spend some time with, make love, ride a horse, take a vacation, go for swimming, anything bring happiness to his soul, but if he just think that he is depressed, and no cure for him, start crying, then no cure for this case, understand?

Your prayer is from your heart. Further You must have to understood the fact that God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

Well I had depression for 10 months, I got cured by having intensive counselling with my GP and psychologists...I went through Centrelink and they put me on a program....I have forgotten what medication I had as a mood enhancer, but I was on Risperdal 4mg at night and a mood enhancer during the day...this is what gave me a cure for my depression....I have not had any recurrent depression since....I am clear of depression for good...

Yes, I believe they can get over depression. The first and best way is to ask God to deliver you. Jesus came to set the captives free from oppression, depression, sin and sickness.
Also you need to take supplements and eat correctly, drink lots of water and do exercising, and make yourself think on things that are good. Start thanking God that you are alive, can see, can hear, can even type your emails etc.etc.

I've never heard of a cure. The only thing I know of is regular treatment, both with therapy and medication.

Don't skip meds. That's key.

Some rare occasions they can heal, most of the time they have to take meds for good. Lets hope our science can help in the long run.

I struggle with it all the time. It can be kept under control but I don't think there really is a "cure" as such.

for awhile maybe
I've been in hospital with depression, then manic-depression
I stay on meds long enough to balance myself, then I use natural supplements and watch what I eat, exercise, get proper rest
but I never let myself get too involved with relationships or emotional drama
