can't compare, Racism is everywhere. You are more likely to find Racism in the USA but that's only because their population is much much much greater than ours. 300 Million compared to 30 Million

In my experience, yes, there is less, at least overt, racism in Canada. Except for aboriginal peoples (first nations in Canada, native americans in U.S.) Canada has a greater population and their is much racism on both sides between the groups.
Because Canada has significantly less people, and a porportionately higher number of ethnic and cultural diversity, it tends to be more tolerant. That said, it can be much harder for immigrants from other countries to succeed in their chosen professions in Canada.
Unfortunately, I think there is a higher expectation of racism in the U.S., which fuels many of the ongoing problems.

Basically, the large cities (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver) are more diverse and open-minded. It's the same as any other western country.
Generally, Canadians are better at concealing their hostility than Americans -- if for no other reason than because they're socialized to do so. However, that doesn't mean racism doesn't exist. In both the U.S. and Canada, people in the same racial/ethnic group will say things to each other they would never say when an outsider is present. Unfortunately, that's a reality we all have to deal with.

Unfortunately, racism in Canada is alive and well but as compared to the US it doesn't hold a candle to the overt and political systemic racism that is part of the
American way of life.
In the US they have what they call the 'melting pot' where people who emigrate to the US are expected to blend in with the so called American society and give up much of their heritage and ways. In Canada we have what is called a 'multi-cultural society' where new comers are accepted regardless of the origin and there is no pressure to give up their heritage.
Unlike the 'melting pot' ideology in the US which is not law, multi-culturalism is law in Canada and protected vigorously. Racism in Canada is not tolerated as much as it is in the US and overt racists will be taken down by the law of the land.
I live in Canada but have traveled extensively in the US and still do. I find the difference astounding, the culture in the two lands is distinctly different and I always feel freer when I return home.

There is no doubt in my mind that there's less racism in Canada. They embrace diversity. In the states you're expected to assimilate.

widepart is pretty much correct. And declaring multi-culturalism as being Canadian is not just law, it is part of the Canadian constitution. However in parts of Canada - especially in the prairie provinces - anti-aboriginal racism is stronger than what you find in the States.

While both countries have their problems. The biggest difference is how we treat immigrants. You come to the US you are expected to forget about everything and become an instant American. While in Canada you come here you can keep your customs while embracing ours. A practice that has worked here for generations.
US a melting pot add, stir.....instant American
Canada tossed salad, many flavours blending together but keeping their unique flavour

the united states-Canada competition is more often than not for bragging rights, besides the undeniable fact that the united states wasn't continually as solid at hockey as they at the instantaneous are. Russia has been solid at hockey for the most suitable 60 or so years and we've overwhelmed one yet another (properly, in the course of the chilly conflict it grow to be more often than not them beating us) at dissimilar major tournaments over the years.

Much more. Yes much more.
The same attitude as most EU nations have.
If you get to know people from all around the globe then you will find that most nations are racist. Most more so than the USA as well. The difference is that people accept it and work around it. The few doo gooderts as they think they are are the cause of most of the problem in the USA/
Where I live it is the whitre face that is made fun of most of the time. We are considered very ignorant by the natives. They are friendly as long as the white face is spending money. Black people are hated just as much here as well.
I have spent quite a bit of time in Canada and was born and educated in the USA and have been in Asia for 15 years and do travel to other lands from time to time.
The USA is a great nation so take care of it, please.
