It's a strapless A-line, with a side split, but they all are poofy with trains. I definitely do not want a train, and would like to remove some layers.

Is this possible? Alterations cost a fortune?

I've looked at destination wedding gowns, but they seem to simple to me. It's only going to be me and my fiance at the wedding, then a small informal reception outdoors when we return a few months later. I'd like to wear it to that too.

How much are you willing to spend? I actually wanted to alter a dress of mine but alterations can cost a lot. In my case, I am actually better off buying a new dress. I went to David's bridal and tried on a beautiful dress without a train for $299. It is also a strapless A-line dress. Here's the link to it:

Try looking at bridesmaids/ formal dresses. They come in white too but usually dont have a train.
